I don't know what everyone is so upset aboout?

I can't think of any game logic where a single core wouldn't be enough! Also, when all the events are dependent on eachother you cannot make it multithreaded.

A "slow" computer can calculate a million DES hashes every second. I dont think it will be a problem to calculate the "simple" logic in sim city.

Unless you are trying to buid france or something tongue.gif

They're upset that there's technology out there that is ubiquitous that is not being utilized properly, thus trivializing their purchases, and tech advancements in general. Also because they can extend this design choice to EA being money grubbing industry ruiners as it's cheaper to just do one thread development, though not by much now-a-days.

Also because EA has been lying from the start about performance with this game, from that it can't be run by modern PCs, to limiting city sizes to smaller than Sim City 2000, etc.

Oh noes, a single threaded game (not really since it has other stuff on other cores) like so many other current games. rolleyes.gif Also, since all Maxis games are targeted at people that will spend more on DLC than their computer it makes sense. Just take a look at people proud of their beta cities, but their screenshots are on super low because their PC is a piece of junk.

And as far as either of us know, it's fully possible that they once had it spread through multiple threads and it either didn't help, introduced crippling bugs, or actually hurt performance.

The other half of his tweet (the part everyone is skipping over) confirms that the game is multi threaded. All his tweet said was the more cores doesn't help.
