Pretty sure that many of here agree that HD7950 is the best bang for buck GPU at around 300$ price point, That MSI card you linked is very good especially if you get one with 7970 PCB, other very good choices are Sapphire boost/vapor-X, Gigabyte windforce and HIS IceQ. And if I´m not mistaken, that Zotac 670 uses the reference cooler, for the same price/bit cheaper you get a 7950 with an excellent custom cooler.
That msi hd7950 is a older revision card,if he can take the risk of flashing the bios then http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125414&nm_mc=OTC-pr1c3grabb3r&cm_mmc=OTC-pr1c3grabb3r-_-Video+Cards-_-GIGABYTE-_-14125414 this isthe card he should get, else for hassle free purchase he can have a zotac gtx670.

Unless you're having issues w/ your CF setup you could keep that going IMO, still plenty of power to play games @ 1200p.

My vote would go to getting yourself a new case + fans, it sounds like that's what you'd like to change most from your OP as well.

Oh I got a great card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131478 its Powercolor HD7950 Boost Edition, its selling as low as $274 after rebate, its also the new revision of HD7950.
The reference cooler in this card is pretty decent and would easily let you achieve good overclock.
Since this HD7950 boost Edition is selling as low as $274 (crysis3,bioshock infinite free) its no more worth to buy a gtx670.

@CrAYoN_EaTeR
look at these offers man!
Intel Core i7 3770K 3.5GHz LGA 1155 Processor - $229.99
http://www.microcenter.com/product/388575/Core_i7_3770K_35GHz_LGA_1155_Processor

Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz LGA 1155 Processor - $189.99
http://www.microcenter.com/product/388577/Core_i5_3570K_34GHz_LGA_1155_Processor

GA-Z77X-UD3H LGA 1155 Z77 ATX Intel Motherboard - $94.99 if purchased with the Intel Core i5 3570k
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.aspx?sku=380519
If you have cash right now you can get these components at such attractive price.
I would say you can get i7 3770k (the deal of i7 3770k is much better than i5 3570k) and gigabyte z77x ud3h.
You can change the gpu later but you won't again get such great deals on cpu & mobo.

Thread Starter
My i5 is still holding up well I only game so I don't feel I need to upgrade I don't think it will bottleneck and single card out right now.
And as far as flashing to the 7950 boost bios I don't think I want to take the risk I would rather pay more for more performance. I'm thinking maybe I should jump to maybe a 7970 or 670 for around $400. Any thoughts about that?

Between the 7970 and the 670 definitely go 7970. It performs better then a 670 and you can over clock it to GHz edition levels. Then you'll have the fastest single GPU in your computer.

OP get the HD 7950 boost edition. the recent batches of Gigabyte HD 7950 cards has a FZ1 boost BIOS and 1 Ghz boost clocks. but voltage is locked. the Sapphire HD 7950 boost edition is also a good option. has unlocked voltage. very good user reviews for the sapphire card. the HD 7950 boost cards easily run at 1100 - 1150 mhz at stock voltage of 1.25v.

you could buy from superbiiz as the prices are better.

http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=AT-7950BST
http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=GA-795WF3G

Performance wise HD 7950(925 mhz) = GTX 670 . HD 7950(1100 Mhz) = HD 7970 Ghz (1050 mhz)

Why when people ask questions like this, do responders always just tell them to spend more money. doh.gif
I have the gigabyte windforce 7950. Its pretty quiet, runs cool and overclocks like a beast. And the pcb would match you mobo.
Are you actually reaching the limits on your 5870's?
It sounds like you're kinda going for quiet, what about adding a fan controller of some type?
Maybe a cpu cooler, and do some overclocking.
