Vishera 8350 vs 1055t oc'd to 3.5 for gaming?

Thread Starter
I currently have a 1055t oc'd with a 680gtx... would I see any gain with the 8350? I haven't found any good benchmarks comparing the two... so if anyone that has some hands on experience with both I would greatly appreciate some input. I know the 8350 would be the strongest with multithreaded apps but I would be using it strictly for gaming... I've been eyeballing it for a while now and it's been even more so as of lately since all the rumors going around that the new consoles will be using a underclocked version of it.

Here ya go.

Also Anandtech: http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/331/AMD_FX-Series_FX-8350_vs_AMD_Phenom_II_X6_1045T.html

Anandtech says all the Vishera CPUs should do 5.0ghz with:
1 - just upping the multiplier
2 - a 10% volt increase
3 - better cooling.

You may want to look at an FX6300 6 core. Anand says they overclock better than the 8 cores.

I have a 6300 and it will run all day at 4.6ghz. 5 is easy, it just overheats with stock cooling.

What is limiting you to 3.5ghz on that thuban? Those can usually hit 4+ and 3ghz nb.

See if pushing that chip harder helps. If it makes no difference then likely a vishera upgrade won't either.

That being said the vishera chips are going to have a much higher oc ceilingaand allow you to run at speeds 4.5-5 GHz with proper cooling. At those speeds I'd imagine that if your current chip is holding you back then you will alleviate said bottleneck.

You should definitely spend a bit of time getting to know how to OC in more detail. You will know what's going on when you change settings, get better gains, be safer and have more fun overall.

That's the beauty of the Visheras, you don't have to know how to overclock, just two changes and you're at 5ghz.

Granted, there's a lot more to be gained with an all encompassing overclock, but, still, 5ghz on 8 cores ain't bad.

The stock 8350 beats the stock 1100T at 3.3 Ghz in all benchmarks.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/203?vs=697

Your 1055T is at 3.5 so lets say they are equal, but remember the FX8350 is still at stock.
The gap in performance will only get bigger once you overclock it too.

yes, but not knowing what you're doing is still more nerve-wracking and dangerous. What if someone doesn't know the difference between CPU NB voltage and regular NB voltage?
