[GR]Steam Box To Be ‘Cheaper Than Consoles,’ Eventually Down To $0 - Page 4

Again, this is just the lowest end Steam box. It wont actually play games, it'll just stream them from your main gaming PC. The other Steam Boxes (better, and best) will always cost money.

So i'm guessing the catch here is either monthly fees or bundle packages here? Otherwise, people may just recycle the hardware to use for something else.

Where did they say they are going to be releasing 3 version of the steambox? You sure you aren't mixing it with "piston"?

When they say it will eventually reach $0 all that means is that they're going to have the streaming client on a device you already own so that you don't have to make any sort of investment to use it, similar to how Onlive has clients on mobile phones/smart TVs and so on.

Wait if the $0 option is just Steam, don't we already have it with "Big Picture Mode"?

Could you please lend me your Time Machine so I can see that as well?

Literal consolisation of PC gaming, not just in terms of software, but also hardware.

Its like the collective PC gamers dream is coming true right before our very eyes.

Can't wait.

The $0 option means the functionality to stream gameplay from a local PC to another screen. It will be free when the functionality is built into TVs and other devices/screens, like wifi compatible printers. You won't have to go out and buy an apple tv-esque steambox to do it, it'll just be built in.
