Hard Drive Problem!!! - Page 5

Hook up your drive to another PC that has a working hdd and windows. Make sure you set YOUR drive as the slave drive, so when you boot windows if your drive is indeed not dead it should appear in my computer.

So, when you hook it up to that other PC, using the master hdd with the OS, boot to safe mode, then log in as the administrator. From there you navigate to my computer and select your hard drive which should be the secondary drive, the slave or better known as (d:\\ or something like that)

Therefore you are booting from a different Hdd and not your own but it will allow you access to your drive as so you have claimed then you use the tutorial I included in my previous post.

I'm just trying to help you recover your data, I can't help you with linux, I don't know squat about it.

I have one last suggestion, then your on your own.

Navigate to this:
Control panel>Administrative tools>Computer Management: Disk Management

See if your hard drive appears in there, if it does that means the OS sees it but it might not be windows compatible. A utility is provided to make it windows compatible, but if you have to do that it'll erase you drive (if I recall properly) and if it has to erase your drive your sunk. bye bye data

Make peace with the computer gods

Which password? The master HDD's or the slave(which is the one that have problem).

Ok, when I go to safe mode, there were 2 acc, obious, a Administrator one and my own. When I type the password for the Administrator, which I think is same as my original account, it didn't work, but it worked fine for my original account.
