Completed - Appraisals: Whole computer except hard drive

A friend of mine absolutely had to sell his computer, so I've taken it to part it out. It's in great shape except that he doesn't have all the cords to the modular power supply. I would like to know how much I can get out of this if I sell it as a whole or if I part it out. It is a nice gaming PC that ran even BF3 on max graphics.

Case: Cooler Master Elite 310
Newegg link!

Power supply: Thermaltake 750W, modular, bought in 2006 on Black Friday
It has the 24-pin and 8-pin motherboard connectors, 3 PCI-E 6-pins, and three SATA plugs. The 3 SATA connectors are all on one line. Stuff like this gives modular power supplies a bad rap... Oh well...

Motherboard: MSI 880G-E45
Also, a Newegg link

CPU: Phenom X4 820, 2.8GHz that overclocked in the 50's C under load to about 3.6GHz

CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS 9500

Memory: 8GB, 2x4GB, G.Skill Sniper DDR3 1600

Video Card: XFX Radeon 6950 1GB

DVD Drive: Lite-on 24x DVD burner

Thanks!

I'd say you'd be lucky to get like 300 for it. It's not bad, but the hardware is dated tongue.gif

Thank you both! I've updated this with also memory, but I'm debating selling that to someone who has two 2GB sticks to trade with me. Do you think that would greatly lower the value of the PC?

Also, it seems like half the value is in the video card. If I sell that and get just any other video card in the place of it, can I sell this PC for more than $150? A GeForce 9800GT or something?

Thanks again!

the G.SKILL Sniper 8GB would probably fetch around $35. if you traded the ram for a 2 x 2GB kit you might take something like a $10 -$15 hit. as too changing out the video card, i think you could get around $150 - $160 say in a local sale.

That is pretty cool. Looks like this 6950 must go on sale immediately. What I'll first do is make sure that I can get some takers on Craigslist for the PC with less memory and a video card I can find soon. Does it make sense to buy a $30-40 video card to add to the PC and sell it with it?

EDIT: I think I can make a GTX 280 live again. I'm going to plop it into this PC and hope to get over $200 for it. If the card goes bad, I can refund $50 and get to where I am now anyway. I'll leave this thread open to today's (Tuesday's) suggestions, and then I assume I should consider it finished.

Thank you very much!

It might work out. ATM it seems like a wash because I honestly don't see the PSU selling on its own (750W with only 3 PCIE and out of warranty), but I think the rest would move at the prices stub quoted, except maybe the Zalman.

Honestly to the normal person that rig is worth at least $400 on craigslist. Save your self some trouble of selling a gpu and your pc. Craigslist is free just go crazy with the pricing you never know whos looking to buy or not looking to buy on the other hand, but its free.

All right, I'm closing in on ending the thread. Cool new stuff definitely.

Thanks for the suggestion! If I can chuck in a GTX 280, which I can pull out of storage shortly, can't I still sell the computer for upwards of $400 on CL?

Please keep in mind I don't have a hard drive in it. There's a 250GB drive available in case that's not embarrassing to use in a PC like this.

Update!

I've sold practically everything in a weird sell/swap maneuver. I now need to have another PC appraised. However, this works just fine. Also, my friend found all his other power supply wires. Thank you all for helping!
