Help tweak my i7 920 OC - Page 2

never tested myself but a lot of guides I read when I first got my bloomfield said that even multipliers are harder to stabilize than odd...try the 19 multi with turbo off and higher bclk (don't think the 920 has a 21X, Vengeance)

Also, what does your vcore do under load with LLC on auto? You might want to try changing that to LVL 2 to minimize vdroop, which should allow you to set a lower vcore in bios

and, as others have stated, QPI/VTT should not require that much for under 1600, mine takes 1.295 for 1600. Lowering that will help temps a little

The 920 does have a 21x multi, some boards allow it to set 21x (I think the ud3r did, don't have my ud3r anymore), some can set 20x in the bios & have to enable turbo to get the 21x (like x58 bloodrage).
I would agree with the others that the QPI/VTT should be able to run a bit lower, as well as the vcore (it does depend on the silicon, but those voltages look on the high side). Cpu PLL i always left auto, it was never an issue.

and that would be why I said "I think", lol

However, I don't think the UD3R allows this, as it will not allow me to set my 960 to 25X with turbo off

and....

I really couldn't remember if the multi allowed to be set to 20 or 21x in the bios, I used a few different GB x58 boards. But he is looking at the bios & I'm not, so it probably does have to be with the turbo on that board (unless I had some weird bios on mine or something, can't find any screens using my 920 to see...).
