Overclocking i7 2600k above 4.5Ghz - Page 5

I'd try to keep it under 1.45V (as long as the temps are okay) but a lot of people run them as high as 1.5V. My temps really started to skyrocket around the 1.4V range though.

IMO, don't go too high over 1.4V for day to day overclocks. If you are doing heavy loads 24/7 for several months at 1.4V; you might see the chip degrade; if you are just running light loads, it should be fine at that voltage.

I only use it for gaming really so I think I should be fine. I've currently set it to 1.405 so ill see how that goes.

I have notice though that even under low loads, my CPU is still pulling out 1.4+ volts. I have turned back on all the power saving settings so not sure whats causing this.

EDIT - Probably because i have set the CPU multiplier and the turbo multipliers to 48x.

The voltage won't decrease at idle unless you overvolt via on offset.

Hi guys,

Just thought I would report in after a few days of testing. Everything seems to be stable since updating the vcore to 1.405, a little higher than I wanted but it shouldn't cause any harm and temps reach mud 70's so I'm quite happy with that. I'm just goin to but a new PC case (NZXT Phantom) which ill have fun installing all the components.

Anyways, thanks for all your help.
