Need ideas on AMD upgrade, cpu+mobo+ram for $250-$300

Hi guys, I need some ideas on an AMD upgrade (I'm not sure if it's worth to upgrade, i will post my current spec below)

I do gaming mostly, multitasking, movie, and music

And my budget is $250 - $300. BTW, I live Canada.

Current build:

CPU: Athlon II x2 245 @3.63Ghz @1.488V (need ideas for upgrade)

CPU Cooler: Closed loop liquid cooler, Thermaltake Water 2.0 Performer (recently upgraded)

MOBO: ASUS M4A785-M 4+1Phase (need ideas for upgrade)

Ram: OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 / 800MHz / NVIDIA® SLI-Ready Edition / Dual Channel (need ideas for upgrade)

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450

SSD: Corsair Force GS 240GB (on the way)

HDD: 465GB (not good brand) RPM:7200

PSU: Antec HCG-520W (recently upgraded)

Case: Antec Performance One Series P280 Mid Tower

So I feel like my cpu bottleneck my system, also mobo and ram are kind of outdated. I don't have extra money for GPU upgrade frown.gif

I'm shooting for FX4300 or FX6300, or Phenom II x4 or x6. I do overclocking.

Sorry for being too detailed on the current build spec, take some time to read.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Thx.

EDIT:
I am running 1920*1080 resolution

id go with FX-6300, with a 990FXA-UD3 Ram id pick up a pair of 8GB Ripjaws for around 30$, and i would highly recommend you upgrade your GPU ... GTS 450 was a relatively weak card even wehn it came out, id go for a 7870 Tahiti LE you get 2 games with it bioshock infinate and tombraider

Thanks for quick reply, okay so how much would a GPU upgrade be to catch up a fx6300.

EDIT:

Just checked the 7870s, the cheapest one is closed $200. But yeah, GPU will be my next upgrade.

agree with aLb.Strykr. get GPU 1st.
Then get a FX-6300 and new motherboard when you can.

Powercolor 7870 Tahiti LE $235 - $30 Rebate = $205
plus Free Bioshock Infinite / Tombraider ( can sell them for ~$35 each).

Too bad people abused the referral-a-friend $20 off promotion at NCIX
or it would be even hotter deal.

Good luck with you upgrade.

This would be a nice combo, maybe get some lower latency ram and a better mobo but as it stands going with something like this would work pretty good.

So you saying upgrade the GPU first will give me more performance? base on my current build?

Still looking for more advise, should i be upgrading CPU+MB+RAM or GPU first.

They both cost around $250-300.

If GPU is the better upgrade, i think i will go for Sapphire hd 7870 xt instead of Powercolor 7870 Tahiti LE.

imo you need to upgrade that CPU before your GPU.

Dual core CPUs just don't cut it anymore, your GTS 450 should pull through for another year or so though.

It looks like the current motherboard will work with an AMD Phenom II 940 quad core (3.0Ghz) CPU
Used one on eBay sell for $85 shipped.

Leaves a lot of leftover cash for a graphics card.
