Id wait on the SSD until you had a SATA3 MB.

False. The part that matters about SSD performance, the instant access and low latency works just fine with SATA II.

You do not need a new motherboard, processor or cooler.

You need a 60+GB SSD for your OS,
and a second fan for your H60.

Even with a new 6 core Intel CPU you would get zero performance gain with that 5400RPM green HDD. Ditch it. thumb.gif

Read and write speed does not matter? Ive heard it all now. 5 year old AMD system and you say the most important upgrade is to get an SSD and a fan. Thats just retarded.

You have several different routes you can take depending on what you decide you want to do.
You could just save the money you have, save more money, and plan a new build.
If I was you I would buy an SSD, enjoy the performance improvement that you will see in a real world environment, then start saving/ planning for a new build. When you build the new computer, you will not need an SSD since you already have one.

Adding the Helix fans to your H60 might improve the temperatures and might allow you to overclock a tad more, but then again it might not. I personally don't think it is worth the cost.

I personally have a 256 SSD that I have my OS and games loaded on. That is a big enough SSD that I will not need to replace soon. In the US these can be bought for $170 or less. I'm not sure what they cost in Aus.

Just my 2 cents.

Didn't say it does not matter,I said it's not what makes a SSD noticeably quicker in day-to-day tasks. Of course SATA3 is better, but it's not worth upgrading your whole system just for the difference. Especially when you have limited funds.

You can get adequate performance, but it's much better to overclock it.

As for the H60...I'm running an X6 at 4.2GHz 24/7...with 1.55v. My temps never go over 50c,all I did was add a 2nd high-speed fan. thumb.gif
