You chose a Z77 Motherboard. (Socket 1155) but If you want the i7 3930k, you will have to go with a X79 motherboard (Socket 2011)

I suggest the Asus Rampage IV Formula . (Or Asus Rampage IV Gene )

You could also get better memory like 2000Mhz or 2133Mhz.

I would personnally go with Windows 7 but you should try Windows 8, trial.

About the COOLER MASTER CM Storm Series Trooper case. I would go with the NZXT Switch 810, but that is just me, the NZXT 810 is a complete case, Watercooling friendly (if you decide to watercool one day) and has great airflow. It also have a nice Side Window. (Official NZXT Switch 810 Club)

You can get it in Black

This was my LGA 775 Q9650 ! (Click to show)

Unless you're an audiophile a separate sound card really isn't necessary now-a-days.

ASUS P9X79 PRO http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131800

windows 7 or windows 8 ?
Win 7 for desktop users, Win 8 with the Classic Shell will kinda work.

I suggest not buying a Corsair PSU. http://www.overclock.net/t/1177728/the-problem-with-a-single-psu-brand/0_30

Quote:
But there's a problem in the power supply industry right now. Corsair and SeaSonic are on their way to total domination of the enthusiast power supply segment, something which will hurt the industry, and enthusiasts, in the long run. No, there's no evil plan afoot, but the market forces right now are pushing us in a very bad direction and we should take a close look at the industry and our buying habits as consumers and see if we can avoid it.

I'm not saying to stop buying Corsair and SeaSonic PSUs entirely. That would be silly, and they don't deserve that treatment. But don't just use them as the default. Look at all your options. Antec has some very nice units, Thermaltake is releasing some nice products these days, there are a host of excellent 80+ Gold SuperFlower built units on the market sold under the Kingwin, NZXT, and Rosewill brands, XFX is a good source of SeaSonic-built products that aren't under the Corsair name. Even CoolerMaster is starting to introduce better units, although they should still be treated with skepticism at this point. Do comparative shopping. Rather than spend $200 on a Corsair AX or SeaSonic X unit, look at other alternatives from other companies that may save you money.

Just don't settle for Corsair or SeaSonic as a default. The consequences could be dire in the long run.

Check out this review on JonnyGuru about the Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 1200W review

OklahomaWolf is a TOP reviewer, your unit is the 800W but the review is basically the same. I recommend it thumb.gif

Pick up a 550w-650w psu instead. An overclocked 3570k and GTX 680 can run off it no problem. something like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151088

(Why Seasonic again... rolleyes.gif )

Why a i5 3570k? If you read his first post correctly..

So X79 and i7 3930k would be appropriate for him. I would also stay with the COOLER MASTER Silent Pro Gold Series 800W if he decide to add another GTX 680 to his setup in the long run.

What do you think?
