Quick Help OCN! Tax Time, and my bro's are makin' me doubt...

Hang in there: This will be quick.

All-but pulled trigger on I7 3770k. Friends starting to cause doubts. Thought I knew the benches and real world testimony, but again, they are starting to make-a-me doubt.

Anyone have links to show which one I should snag up? Money isn't the issue here ($350 I guess is tops). Target for Gaming, Streaming, DvD de/en-coding, and relative "snappiness".

What's to doubt????

If you plan to overclock though, be sure to get an excellent HSF. The Ivy Bridge CPUs run hotter than the Sandy Bridge chips do.

Nothing wrong with a 3770k at all. A 3570k is a bit cheaper and a bit less powerful.

To the best of my knowledge, Ivy's "can" run a lil hotter, but I an aftermarket HSF is in the mix.

My doubt is in regards to performance, as in, "Which 1 is the better choice?"

And, for the life of me, I cannot find a non-bias review either way (both parties are guilty).

personally I would go with the 3570k and pick up a SSD instead of the 3770k... it might take a little longer to do some things, but I think the reduction in price justifies the extra wait.

Performance of what? Heatsinks? CPUs? And what CPUs are making you doubt your original choice. A more powerful more expensive one, or less? Or AMD vs Intel?

I really have no idea what you are asking to be honest.

Snap - sorry all: 2 (two) Vertex 4 120's in the build already.

Does that change anything?

And, is anyone super ninja, and could show me a side by side review that they remember they trusted?

Or... rolleyes.gif personal experience?

I am asking, " Which CPU is better overall, excluding price, holding that the GPU / RAM / SSD's of the accompanying system(s) are the same?

Ahh. Well it really does just come down to how much money you want to spend. A 3570k will do everything you want it to, a 3770k is basically a 3570k with hyperthreading. Not exactly, but for the sake of comparison Hyperthreading will have a decent advantage in certain applications.

Id say if you dont mind the extra get the 3770k....just because. If youd like to save a few bucks get the 3570k and you wont miss a whole lot.

Youll probably want to get new memory though. 1155 uses dual channel memory, and your 3x2gb kit will leave you kind of stuck. Memory is pretty cheap so no big deal.
