Reducing pump noise/vibration

Thread Starter
I am currently using a XSPC Dualbay res with a d5 pump mounted in a NZXT switch 810 and want to reduce noise/vibration from the pump. Will this product help me achieve that?

http://www.dazmode.com/store/product/heatkiller_noise_dumpering_mat/

Also do i apply this directly to the res or on the case where the res is mounted?
would you put it between the bay cage and the res? if so, I don't see why it wouldn't. If the sound is really annoying I would be willing to throw ten bucks to try to get rid of it

It will help absorb vibrations, not sure how well. I'd just email the DazMode owner (forget his name) he's pretty good at responding to questions. As far as where to apply it, wherever is going to look best between the res/pump and case.

This is slightly off topic but I love when you can actually talk to someone that knows their products from a place you are buying things from

Do you have room in your case? Because the best way to decouple a pump for noise is to have it suspended by it's two hoses. Looks weird though, so if you have a spot away from your side window where you can do that, that would be great. Also look for a way to slow down your pump and that too can contribute in decreasing noise. You will be surprised at how much.you can slow down your pump without any temp drops.

it unfourtunate that you are limited to the pump being mounted to the res.

what i did to quiet my pump was i took some styro padding that came with my GPU box (about 1/4" thick) and placed it between the bottom of my pump and the wall that i screwed it onto.

Its not as effective as i would like since the screws themselves still cause a bit of rattle on the case ( brainstorming ways to fix this) but id say it reduced the noise by 50% at full speed.

on a side note, i love dazmode smile.gif i live only a few kilos away(London) from their location (missusaga) so anything i order at cheap ground shipping gets here fast.
my last package took only 2 days
i expect the package i ordered today to be just as quick, hopefuly by friday biggrin.gif

Fox why not try the rubber fan screws if they re long enough?
To OP I unintentionally have what pepe said to do. It is only the fans I hear in my system so don't knock it fore ya try it.

i might just try the styro padding trick and try adding some washers. Doesn't hurt to try.

Pump is currently set to 3, if i go down to 2 then there is this slight humming noise along with the vibration. I could go down to 1 but i don't know if that will move the water efficiently through the loop. I have a pic of the loop on my rig page, if you guys wanna have a look.

I bought a bunch of this stuff:

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/3039/noi-02/FrozenCPU_Noise_Dampening_Material.html?id=SIXLTPN6&mv_pc=236

and put it every where I could near my bay res/d5 pump. I have the same one as you. It helped a lot. I also found that it was quieter to run the pump on setting 5 than any other setting.
