[VC] NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan To Be Released on February 18th - Page 20

While interesting...I don't see how this is going to live up to the massive amounts of hype being generated on enthusiast sites. Some people are going to be very very disappointed next week.

Interesting. The article quoted one person who said a few % to a 690 or better than a 690. The bottom of the article says it's 55-60% of a 690. That's quite a gap, or is what is on top in the insert the revised (edited) latest stat. If so that's amazing. I loved how the 690 looks though I've never seen or owned one.

Man, this could hurt but going to guess $800-900 for it.

Edit. Was talking to a friend of mine who's into this stuff too and he still feels this card would be slapped sideways all day long by AMD's compute. Now do you think that would be true? For folding, more than likely not. But do you think we'll just see a "record-breaking" level of compute ability in line with the best Nvidia cards prior or could this card actually compare to a Radeon in some aspects?

No full coverage water blocks for Titan, no Titan for me! My 480 was loud even at 60 percent fan speed, GK110 will produce lots of heat!
I hope to god this is faster than 55%-60% over a 680 or 7970.....at least another 15% above that, that would then put it within a few % of a 690. If it is only ~60% faster than a 680 or 7970, then it is a ripoff at the rumored price points. There is absolutely no reason to not just get two 7970's, which isn't something I say lightly, as I am a single GPU type of person. But with how well SLi and Crossfire scale in two card situations......yea....this sounds nuts.

Also, why isn't this in Rumors? Since none of this has been officially announced. Just another dude saying that another dude was correct.

EDIT:

For the rumored cost of this card I could upgrade to 2011 and add a 7970 for just a couple hundred more. DAUM!

Very limited quantities?

As I said, NVidia is releasing this for the epeen. It won't make a difference in market whatsoever.

Also, I am not upgrading until mid 2015, so... they better release something hefty for then!! biggrin.gif

I wonder if the 384-bit memory bus will hold the card back in some way. The Titan has 75% more CUDA cores than a GTX 680, yet only a 50% bigger memory interface. The memory clock seems to be the same too.

Edit2: Actually the card still seems to have a lower memory bandwidth in relation to its performance compared to a 680.

Are there even any games out there that'll use 4gb+ while not being choked by single-GPU processing power?

I think 4GB is a very safe number.

I have seen games break 2GB at 1440P, but not hit 3GB, and these were highly modified games. 4GB is a very safe number right now I would feel.

There won't be. That is pretty much guaranteed. I expect to see 3rd party vendors selling these cards at absurd prices.

I am waiting for a game to drop my OCd 7950 to its knees at 1080p, then I will just crossfire with my other card. I am feeling pretty good about waiting for about 2 years to upgrade with my 3 GB cards. 4 GB should be more than sufficient
