If that becomes the case, I'll get 2 670s or 680s instead.
Again, I would need to research whether my 850w PSU would be up to the task though. (Antec TruePower Quattro 850w)
I'm already excited to have my first SLI build in July

850W is safe to run pretty much any SLi/X-Fire setup on.

How many do you plan on getting? LOL tongue.gif

A decent 750w can easily handle two 680s.

Anyone else find it odd that someone who isn't excited about the imminent release of the fastest single gpu graphics card on the market is a member of an enthusiast computer hardware forum?

Hopefully 770s will be out before July and I'll just get 2 of them.
(Although I would prefer 780s but I am unsure if my 850w PSU will cut it)

Will still be a massive upgrade on the single GTX 580 3GB I have now.

We've heard from multiple sources that the 700 series won't launch until Q4 2013, and possibly even Q1 2014. However, the good news is your 850W psu will be more than enough as the 780 will use GK114, a refresh of the small die, power efficient GK104 that the 680 uses.

I disagree if it costs $899.99 for ~%85 performance of a GTX 690 while being a single card.

As performance goes up with in pc parts the price usually goes up way more then the value of the performance difference, in this case it seems right on point.

Example: 3930k vs 3960x

Only reason I might go for Titan is for epeen. Of course I'd have to get two of them...

Just 2, but I am still noobish as I only got my first PC a couple of years ago so play the safe route of doing "lots" of research before I hand over my money.

A couple of years ago I made a bad Motherboard choice that was only rectified with a recent socket 2011 upgrade and I do EVERYTHING I can to make sure I won't make mistakes now.

The exciting thing about Titan is that IF it turns out to be as fast as SLI/CF 680's/7970's then two Titans will probably destroy 4 x 680's/7970's due to terrible scaling with four video cards. I don't think Titan will be that fast but if it is all of the current 4-card leaders in the benching section will be overrun by guys with two Titans... wink.gif

Yeah, the price is confusing. Generally on a yearly basis, you get more performance per dollar. GTX 200-400-500-600 all had substantially increased performance per dollar; With the Titan, we're getting the same exact performance per dollar as the GTX 690. I don't get it.

I don't really have a desire to switch from lightning 680s - the cost is substantially higher and unless I spend 1800$ on SLI, it isn't worth it. 1800$ on an SLI setup. Jeesh.
