[VC] NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan To Be Released on February 18th - Page 52

Is there really not an accurate release price yet? I would have thought with the release two days away there would be something solid...

No idea. Half of me says that they will allow more OCing, the other half says otherwise because of the voltage restriction on the 680.

As disappointing as this seems, NVIDIA have explained to us in an email the reason for this restriction which ultimately benefits enthusiasts. NVIDIA, of course, understand how their GPUs work at the deepest level and have determined that the GTX 680's Kepler GK104 GPU will die an early death due to electromigration if the voltage is allowed to be increased beyond NVIDIA's specified limits. It boils down to the card either lasting a normal lifetime of several years or going like a rocket and burning out quickly. NVIDIA doesn't feel that this is worth it, as nice as it is to set benchmark records.

Dont forget this will probably have kepler 70 degree's throttling with the standard fan.
Maybe it won't though... I mean, the whole reason for this whole restriction thing could have been because they really did push GK104 pretty damn far. They wouldn't be pushing Titan the same way would they? So wouldn't that mean that Titan will be a lot more durable?

I'm guessing this thing overclocks terribly. I have no doubt at all that it will have locked down voltage just like the 6XX series cards. That said, it'll still be the fastest single GPU card on earth for a while...

When do we think Nowinstock.com will likely start listing this card for those who play that game of "OMG I got the Alert, it's in stock and race to order".

Of course it's not listed on that website now as there's no one credible listing it yet. I remember the madness when the 680 came out. All the threads people posted telling others of websites having the card in stock, after they placed their order of course biggrin.gif

Those cards moved fast at launch and I expect nothing different here.

P.S. I just talked myself out of buying a Macbook Air earlier today... rolleyes.gif I just may want to put those funds elsewhere...

Decided against it for now and keep my 670s... I just remember last year when the 680s went on sale and were out of stock for what seemed forever and grabbed my 670 FTW, lol. Time to just be happy until Maxwell.

Potential specs are gorgeous though, lol.

Is the fan part of the thing that you remove to put on a waterblock?

Yep. I remember the 680s as well. I believe it was a Tuesday, and that it wasn't until around 9am EST they went on sale I think? Maybe someone else can remember a more exact time. They did sell out pretty quick.

Yes, the whole shroud would be removed. Not many watercool though, so a crappy stock fan means trouble for most without excellent airflow.
