[VC] NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan To Be Released on February 18th - Page 59

Well, I suppose the question I have is is it worth going from a 4-Way SLI GTX-680 Classified to 4-Way SLI GTX-Titan (assuming I can even get 4 given the mad dash F5 n00bs)? Especially at my resolution, 5160x2560 (3 30" monitors in Portrait mode), I would love to have 6GB of VRAM but so far, there hasn't been a SINGLE game that has hit the 4GB VRAM limit on the Classifieds. The closest I've come is F1 2012 with 16xQ CSAA with everything maxed out at 5160x2560 which uses around 3950MB of VRAM.

Perhaps Crysis 3 with all AA settings maxed out might require more than 4GB of VRAM(?). I wonder if even tri-SLI Titan would beat 4-Way SLI GTX-680 Classified(?). Really need to wait for some good reviews but most of the people out there do reviews on 1080P screens and think 2-Way SLI is "overkill". rolleyes.gif

You can, in a lot of cases, drastically turn down AA at 1440P and 1600P and have the same look as with high AA at 1080P and 1200P. AA was designed to make what few pixels were on screen look as best as possible, but with high pixel count, it isn't need as much. Remember, 1440P has almost double the pixel count of 1080P.

I can't wait to see Titan in SLi and what that can do.....should be insane.

That is a good point about AA. I do tend to always forget that. And with newer forms of AA coming out like TXAA, MSAA is slowly fading away. It just takes way to much brute force to run MSAA. But yes higher res does not need as much AA if any at all.

Titan SLI is the first SLI setup I have felt I would be comfortable with running a 2560x1600 Monitor and not be worried. But I also could wait a year and get Titan performance in NVidia's standard GTX line. I really do think Titan is a beta launch in a couple of ways for NVidia. One being a new price point for a new Ultra Enthusiast line to see how it sells and how it does, and Two for the GK110 as a consumer Product. Don't get me wrong I would gladly pay to be one their "beta testers" but I do think NVidia is throwing this out there to see how it does.

Umm look closely at the other side of the fan in that first picture, does anyone else see another heatsink, like the 690 would have but the titan would have zero reason for? I think these picture look real but that particular aspect of the card is either something I've never seen in a GPU before or was photochopped from the 690.

There might be some components on the PCB out there that might need the cooling?

Honestly, though - what else would you put in that small space?

Some of the heat generated by the VRM system gets dissipated there probably

of course I was.
That is the entire point of the titan you can stack more performance.

Maybe with a couple of these in SLI with a good overclock can finally run Train Simulator 2013 at 60FPS with decent AA.

But there's nothing under there though, look at the PCB shot. The only thing I can think of it's just more ally attached to the unisink because why not, but I don't know it still seems weird. At least if it is just more ally for the fun of it then there aren't looking to do any sort of cost cutting on the hardware of this card because if they were then that would be the first place to start.

Anyways, I hope this vapor chamber kicks butt because with how awesome looking the shroud/cooler is I wouldn't want to have to see people who don't have full loops strap Antec 620s to this just to keep it quiet.

Keep telling yourself that. Whatever it takes to make you feel better for being way underpowered gpu wise to run 1440p.

Since the back of the card is open the heatsink could just be there to keep people from sticking their fingers in the fan tongue.gif
