[VC] NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan To Be Released on February 18th - Page 71

February - 19: specs and pictures allowed
February- 21: reviews and sales commence

http://www.nordichardware.se/Grafik/nvidia-lanserar-geforce-gtx-titan-den-21-februari.html

Seems like they pulled our leg, we know what the specs and and have seen pics so nothing to see until thursday lol... how silly of them to launch it a day after the announcement of the PS4. That's terrible marketing and evil because these titan threads will spawn over and over again filled with speculation.

1. it makes total sense to delay reviews/release until AFTER Crysis 3 releases, especially if it actually destroys that game. I was actually surprised and suspicious of the 18th being the paper launch specifically for that reason

2. how is it silly to launch after the PS4 announcement when all the rumors indicate the PS4 is bound to have underwhelming hardware in it? The marketing works in so many ways in nVidia's favor: "Look at our GPU that is more powerful than the combined CPU and GPU inside the PS4! Perpare yourself for not just the next generation of gaming, but the generation after that!"

You mean it is a factor k-20x as powerful as those combined while using less power. (if you know what I mean)
I know where this is going.

1.) there has been a massive Hype build up for a launch today, why not launch it today before the entire web lights up with talks about a new console? Also console GPU power and PC GPU power are not comparable when you look at the end result. games are optimized way better for consoles then they are on PC

2.) it doesn't matter how powerful it is compared to the PS4. All that matters is how powerful the Ps4 is compared to the Ps3 to most gamers. News of the PS4 will seriously cast a big big shadow over the launch of any Gpu on the internet. really the only ones who will know/ care about the titan are us (PC enthusiasts). I'm sure even casual PC gamers (people who throw in a stock 560 and call it a day) won't care about the titan when most game publications are talking about a new console.

Not to mention the Titan is $900... bojinglebells doesn't seem to understand that the PS4 on its own can play games for cheaper (I would think so?) than a GTX TItan... The Titan and PS4 should not be compared, imo.

That's just it. I keep hearing people say they are releasing to battle the ps4. That's nonsense.

The Titan is aiming strictly at amd and the lack of new enthusiest gpu from them. Nvidia knows amd has their focus on the console market right now and they can't get a piece of that themselves so the logical thing to do would be to chip away at amd in the pc space.

When was the last time AMD launched a single-GPU card that was for $900? Not really sure how this chips away at AMD, other than maybe takes away potential 7990 sales? =S

Seems legit
titan does 5 terraflops
Where the xbox 360 is said to have a max peformance of 1 terraflop cpu and gpu combined.
However it is proven that the xbox 360 actually has a theoretical maximum of 360gigaflops.
M$ exaggerated the amount by 3x.
