Another bad ASUS rma(UPDATE 03/12/13 - NIB motherboard recieved)

Thread Starter
A few weeks ago I had to send my Crosshair V Formula back to Asus for rma as both of my CPU fan headers bit the dust. After reading all the bad experiences people have had with them I was hesitant but knew I had to do it as I don't have the cash to just buy a new motherboard.

I sent the board out, it was repaired and this is what came back....

Packaging seemed fine. All was well until I closely inspected the board

Discoloration in the PCB.....hmmmmm....ok? That doesn't seem right, but at least I can tell they did some work to it?.....and then I saw

My RAM slots were all melted and burnt to crap. I mean it looked as if they took the soldering iron and just ran it across the slots. The pictures don't show how bad it really was. The entire bottom portion was melted away from the PCB!

This is unacceptable Asus! Where is the quality control?! Damaging a customer's product and sending it back to them?? Then over the phone saying the there is no way it left the plant damaged and that I must have done it?! No thank you! That is not how you treat your customers and how you keep clientele!

I have since managed to finally get through to a customer rep that seemed to care and wanted to make things right. I have gotten a prepaid shipping label and was told they would cross ship mea new board. I have sent my damaged motherboard out. According to the FedEx tracking Asia should have my product tomorrow. I can't wait to see how long it will take for me to get a board back.

Let's see if you can make things right Asus. Prove toe that you and your customer service is woethe spending my money with you.

Sounds like Asus to me. I was a die hard fan of their motherboards even though every one I got from them since the 754 socket had issues. I think my 939 A8N-SLI Premium is the only Asus board I got that worked 100% and still works. They've really gone down the toilet since. I built an AM2 socket system once and it took me 3 RMA's just to get a working motherboard, since then I've went to Gigabyte and haven't looked back.

Yes that sounds like Asus.
2 RMA on a the PCI-E 1 running @ x8.
2nd RMA when it came back there was thermal paste in the socket.
3 RMA they sent me another mobo with the same problem.
4 RMA and about 2 months later finally I got a mobo that works fine.

I can honestly say that the one and only experience I've had with ASUS's RMA service was very well done. I had to send back my P8P67 Deluxe because of onboard audio failing. One and half weeks after the mobo I sent back hit the mailbox I had a new (refurbed) motherboard at my door. It also came with a bonus because the new board had the 2302 BIOS whereas the old board had the dreaded 3207, which I could not get rid of.

Asus RMA Department went down hill about the time as AM3 mobo came out.

I only RMA'd this board about 2-3 months ago, and I bought it in September 2011; the AM3 socket had already been out for over 2 years?

Maybe it's the difference between ASUS Canada and ASUS US? idk how many people that are in Canada that have ASUS RMA problems, but a lot of people having problems seem to be in the US.

Oh, Asus RMAs...

A couple years ago I had to send back a GTX 460. It took them a month or more to send it back and when they did, it wasn't a new GTX 460. It was, if I remember correctly, a used GT240. When I took pictures of it, they insisted that it was a GTX 460. When I showed pictures alongside system detection software, they begrudgingly sent me a used 460 ("if I insisted").

Asus makes some quality parts but their customer service is nothing short of appalling.

I have 5 Asus Sabertooth 990FX R 2.0 boards and they all worked fine out of the box. Just needed to install the newest bios and they worked fine.
