Another bad ASUS rma(UPDATE 03/12/13 - NIB motherboard recieved) - Page 2

The white discoloration looks like no-clean flux or flux they didn't clean properly. The melting is just poor repair work/practices. Should have replaced the RAM header-no doubt, but looks like the repair person would have mangled that.

We are talking about when we need to RMA.
And for me it took 2 ppl from Asus that doesn't work in the RMA department to get back a working mobo. That is sad.

My asus RMA went OK i guess. redface.gif They immediately issued RMA for bad sabertooth. Cool... WAITED forever for email. Called back. They "lost" my info basically.
Got that figured out and got an advanced RMA. Got my "new" board. Scratched ceramix coating. And the SB heatsink felt really loose on it. Like it might have been taken off.
Everything works, but sure seemed shady to me. I kinda figured I wouldnt get a new board, but I guess I hoped it would be "like new".

It's probably built well so they don't have to service them. Labor and customer service costs more than a good component.

Warranty might as well be nonexistent if you need to return something 4x to get it right rolleyes.gif

The only ASUS products I own are ones that can be replaced without hassle or headache ($20 dual band wireless adapters). Even if ASUS is better than Netgear/Linksys I didn't get the router.

That really is a bad repair job, they need to learn how to use that soldering iron lol

Lucky for me ive only ever had to do 1 rma and that was with powercolor recently and I got back what looks to be a brand new 7950 and they even put a uefi gop bios on it for me so im pleased, only thing they messed up is didn't sent me back all the box and all my accessories have gone although they have said they will send it all out to me so just gotta wait now

Yea, we'll see how things go this time around.

So far I am completely dissatisfied with how long it took to get the original motherboard back, the fact that I got it back damaged, and as of now....I sent my damaged board back, it has already been delivered to Asus, and I have yet to get an email stating my new board has been shipped.

So much for a cross shipment.. mad.gif

I love Asus products. Their motherboards and graphics cards really are top notch. But there's no such thing as a full proof product.

At one point or another you will probably have to get something rma'd......and that is what will make me think twice about buying another Asus product. It really is a shame.

Could always try Gigabyte and Asrock. I hear very little about them needing RMA's if at all. I've personally used 7 Gigabyte boards in the last few years all varying models and chipsets, never a hiccup on any of them to this day.

Oh I have thought about going that route. In fact I used a 990fxa Ud5 for a few weeks before the crosshair 5. The reason I swapped was because of the lack of UEFI bios and vdroop issues. And to be honest I haven't kept up to date with either manufacturer to know if any of the past hiccups have been sorted.

As of right now I am partially looking at the gigabyte 990fxa Ud5/Ud7 and the asrock 990fx extreme 9 as possible subs.

Will have to see how the rma goes with Asus and how the future AMD motherboards line up.
