Another bad ASUS rma(UPDATE 03/12/13 - NIB motherboard recieved) - Page 10

I have been reading your story, I am currently having the same issues with ASUS trying to RMA a video card I bought late last year and started artifacting BAD after just over a month of use at stock settings. Got my first RMA back early February, same card, same problems. Called back and was told I could do the rapid replacement option. They gave me the whole 'we'll contact you within 48 hours' shpeel a couple times while they checked for ones in-stock (got different answers about what is in-stock from different people I talked to). Now they tell me my only option is to send it in for another RMA, this time it will be LEVEL 3... whatever that means ... (but I do have to pay shipping, not that big of a deal but I just know I am going to have to send it to them again).

To be honest, I just want something that works. But it seems that the only way ASUS will 'kind of' take it seriously is if you have RMA'd at least 3 times. So I guess I am just waiting until I hit that mark...

I had Asus pay for the shipping on the 3 and 4 RMA.

When they sent you the first card back you should have mentioned prepaid shipping labels. when I got my first damaged baord back I made sure to mention that and told them I refuse to pay $20 to ship back a product they messed up on. I got my prepaid shipping labels with no questions asked. As to their "rapid replacement"....That is the same BS I am dealing with.

there is no reason why you should have had to pay return shipping. This is my 3rd replacement and I made sure they gave me prepaid labels for everything I had to ship back.

Yeah, they sent me prepaid labels for my first RMA so it didn't even pass my mind that I would have to pay for this one until after I hung up. Oh well... I wish you the best of luck with your 'replacement' mobo when it comes. Please keep us updated!

Alright guys here is the next update...first off I wanted to say thank you Asus for FINALLY getting your $hit together(somewhat) and sending me a fully functional board. However I am not completely satisfied with this one either.

The above picture is what I found on the board. Outside of that cracked plastic piece the board was literally caked in dust. But none the less, dust os just dust.

I managed to get Tue board cleaned off And hooked up. So far all seems well. The computer purrs just as it did before.

Now, here is my question for all of you..... Should I accept this motherboard as is? I mean yes all seems to function normally but it still is technically damaged.

I will be contacting Dwayne either way and letting him know what I received but should I accept this? Or ask for a new( and I mean brand new) motherboard? Yes I want my computer up and running again but at the same time have expectations on how I should be treated by a company of this caliber. What is all of your suggestions?

Since it's fully functional, I would just keep it. Who knows what you might get back if you send it in again.

Consider it a lesson learned and write off ASUS from this point on.

I'm going to say that it looks like user error to me. I bet money that you thought those tabs moved and broke the tab.

That is what I am afraid of.

Yes because on a motherboard I have used for almost a year I am not competent enough to know how the ram slots work. If there was ever any damage caused by me I would not be posting it here.

I would just keep the board, considering the damage is relatively minor. Yes it's BS that it's still technically damaged, but consider how long it took you to get a board this intact. Do you really want to subject yourself to ASUS' mobo lottery again? I know I wouldn't.

I'd say just bite the bullet, keep it, and avoid ASUS products in the future if possible.
