GTA IV On a AMD/AMD Setup?

Thread Starter
I have heard lots of times that GTA IV only likes Intel and nVidia, has AMD or R* managed to patched this yet so the game offers similar performance for both?

And BTW, I will be getting an FX6300 + HD7770 2gb

overall, the GTA 4 is considered an example of how to port an amazing game from console to pc in the most mediocre way as possible. It only likes the consoles and is not favouring any set-up's for pC's whatsoever.

But, has FPS increased for AMD since the launch?

Yeah, even with a crazy setup its still going to studded or lag at least a little bit. Even with my sig rig, I cannot run it maxed out @ 1080p.

A bit sad, but has it got better on the AMD side of it?

I suppose so, but a game like GTA IV will need the extra VRAM dont you think?

I dont think so...I run it just fine with a GTX460 768MB, almost maxed and with a GTX560ti 1GB almost maxed with tons of mods and HD textures and it never lagged, HD7950 3GB on the other hand stuttered on the same settings biggrin.gif

Was a stuttering mess on my 7970, smooth as silk on my 570s (smooth for GTA4 that is)

I would not recommend for an AMD setup.

Runs perfectly fine on my rig. Not maxed mind you, but also not a stuttering mess.
