Corsair 650W V2 To power 2x 680 Lightings? - Page 3

A good 650w psu isn't enough for a two GTX 680 Lightning system, unless you you don't overvolt at all. Max the Ln2 bios on the Lightnings giving them 1.36v will have that psu shut down the system under heavy gaming/benchmarking load.

Agreed....and that's the whole point of the lightnings.

650w is enough at stock and with a mild OC, even moderately high OC but once you start clocking those up and pushing more volts through it, you'll be wanting a bigger PSU.

im not overclocking those until i get a new psu.

Not an overkill,but plenty for stock or with mild OC.With max OC and volts,i saw a guy with XFX 850W that was turning off.He was running i7-3930k though..biggrin.gif

If you won't be OC'ing until later on, then a 650 will be just fine.

i know on my system ax850 running a fx4100 oced too 4.5 vcore1.45 660ti sc+ more overclock running futuremark+ prime95 my cyber power psu never read over 350watts it may be a stretch:D

When I had 2x 680's I used to run them off a TX-650w V2. Under gaming load I don't think the system ever pulled more than 500w from the WALL. People have to understand that it's not bad to draw 650w from a 650w PSU, it's made to supply that much power (assuming it's quality) and is given enough headroom already to do so. The only reason these companies/reviews tell you you need 800w+ PSUs etc... is to save their arse if you buy an absolute pos unit that can't handle the load.

The only reason I upgraded to a HX-750 v2 for my 680's was because of the modular cables and looks.

Clocks and config? Gaming load at stock sounds about right. Lightning's at max OC are a different beast.

Lightning's are dual 8 pins unlike most 680's dual six or 8+6pin for alot of the oced 680's more tdp more power
