Dell has announced four new additions to its Ultrasharp series of monitors. Three of the monitors are tagged as “PremierColor” displays, said to offer “outstanding colour accuracy, precision and performance”. In addition the firm has released a new Ultrasharp monitor that is an ultra-wide, with a ratio of 21:9 which is designed to facilitate “productive multi-tasking”.

Would have liked to see a 27" 1600p, I think 30 is just too big for my desk smile.gif

I'm just waiting for someone to release a 120hz IPS 27/30" with 2560x1440/1600.
Why won't anyone do that? frown.gif

And yes I am aware of the Korean monitors, but I want a proper brand with guarantee next time.

i'm pretty sure it's because ips monitors tend to have a lower refresh rate

How so? We have seen IPS 4k 60hz, so it should be just as easy making a 2560x1600 with 120hz.

As far as I can tell, they all still use the same LG panels, used in nearly all monitors of this form factor (save the newfangled PLS ones). It takes a massive amount of resources to put a custom panel into production, and I suspect that the normal LG ones don't generally hold up very well under heavy overclocking. Sure there are one-off 4k 60hz screens out there, but they aren't in production.
Finally, most of the people who buy these monitors are professionals who simply need the color accuracy, not gamers looking for refresh rate. Also, the price on a 30", 120hz , 2560x1600 panel from Dell would be ludicrous.

What makes you say that? People have had the 120Hz overclockable IPS panels for about a whole year now with no reported problems from running this high. Mine is still working great too. Having had 2560x1440 @ 120hz on a 27" display, I will never get anything less ever again.

Very few of them can actually do that. I won't pretend to know enough about what exactly in a monitor suffers from overclocking, but I bet Dell would consider it if they saw a market for $1500 gaming monitors, and were convinced that the monitors would last the duration of the warranty without exploding.
