Still no word on the U3014 being LED backlit... Hopefully the AG matte is not so grainy! It took a while to get used to that.

Edit: I don't get what the difference between the U2713hm and the U2713h is....

The H has wider color gamut - 14 bit LUT supporting 99% Adobe RGB and 100% sRGB.
The HM is the "cheaper" version, supporting 99% sRGB.
You have to be pretty picky to notice difference in RL.

The U2713H uses a newer panel from LG with a GB LED backlight for a wider color gamut. The U2713HM uses a white LED backlight. The U2713HM is better for gaming with it's slightly smaller input lag and faster response time. The U2713H is geared more towards professional applications.

It's almost confirmed to have a GB LED backlight like the U2713H and a lighter AG coating.

A 2560x1080 monitor would be great for my gaming PC; if it was 120hz i'd buy it right away.

As a desktop monitor it would be awful, much to short. For my desktop rig, 2560x1600 is the way to go.

I actually just bought one of these, it's coming tomorrow:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-S27B970D-27-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B007M4UUF2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360868144&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+970

The new PLS panels in the Samsung are getting insanely good reviews, most are claiming better than IPS, and I don't see the new dell monitors having the same quality for gaming and day to day tasks. These dells are 10bit monitors, which add a ton to the cost and give 0 benefits to gamers and your average user.

Dell also has had very mixed results lately with it's monitors, mainly due to their anti-gloss coatings and bad QC. The Samsung is glossy, they factory calibrate it and give you a calibration paper in the box, and Samsung apparently has been requiring a much higher standard for backlight bleeding and uniformity on their 970Ds. It's virtually none, and I can't say the same for any of the current Dell monitors, they are extreme hit or miss in that department.

You will love it. I've owned 2 IPS panels. PLS is the way to go.
