It's safe to assume that HD 7970 GHz Edition is the fastest single gpu? - Page 2

It has been well demonstrated for a while now that the two top cards trade blows in the usual benchmarks and games.

We all want to feel we have the "best" but it is a never ending cycle. And as mentioned, the Geforce Titan will destroy the 7970 in a few days.

If you read the whole thread, you will understand which one is the clear winner.

i was thinking about 670ftw but then on 1440p the 7970 with its 384bit bus and stock 3gb is better option. one downside only is the 60-80w it eats more

12.11 has been working well for my 6970m. I tried the 13.2 beta and it was horrible. Horrible stutter in Path of Exile. Back to 12.11s I went.

I read the whole thread, you have one benchmark to back up your claims. You need to look at more data and you will see that what I said is correct.

I find the 670 FTW to be excellent at 1440p.

No problems at all.

Folks don't use a high end card on smaller resolution than 1080p. It make no sense at all. Basically, just put 1080p and above, I bet that HD 7970 GHz Edition will win because it performs better in 1080p and above compared to GTX 680.

1050p: 680: 1% faster
1200p: They are equal
1600p: 680: 6% slower
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/ARES_II/27.html

-5%/3 = 7970GHz is 1.7% faster. Whoopdidoooo. rolleyes.gif

Anyone else would say that GTX 680 and 7970GHz are equal. They trade blows. /thread thumb.gif

I have stated in the thread that the majority of latest games benchmark favored HD 7970 GHz Edition. Look it for yourself.

Like everyone else has said it depends on game when comparing the Performance of each card. However, when you consider Price as well as performance the 7970 becomes much more appealing over the GTX 680. I prefer AMD cards ATM because of the 3GB Vram I need for 1440p with all the eyecandy turned on.

Yes but most games favored HD 7970 GHz Edition than GTX 680.
