AsRock Z77-series VCore reading! - Page 36

Hello, OCN.

I bought this evening an Extreme 6, right before finding this thread. I will be using it with a 3570k.

Is this board affected as well besides the Extreme 4? I think it's been hinted along the thread but not too sure.

Does this mean that the VRM are low quality, or that the CPU is at potential risk, or the voltage is actually stable, but just over-volted?

Has there been a revised batch, a BIOS update to correct it SW-wise somehow, or something?

In short, is this board (Extreme SIX) still undercommended?

Gear mentioned in this thread:

I edited the thread title, all AsRock Z77 boards are affected.

Even my OC Formula has the issue, which you wouldn't really expect :l
Atleast I didn't...

I've been told this has been corrected in the most recent BIOS, is that right?

How is the VRM quality itself, vesides having to manually apply a -.1 volt offset?

I recall sin0822 saying the extreme6 uses identical vrm to the z68x-ud7 which was a $350 board. Long story short it has very good vrm. The extreme4 uses crap on the other hand for vrm... Its a no brainer to spring for the e6 over the e4.

Such a relief... I was afraid that i made a bad buy. Ill just be careful with the voltage reading smile.gif

Thanks so much! rep

The BIOS didnt fix the issue, I have v2.7 flashed on mine and I read vCore voltages off by as much as .05V on my E6

No new BIOS out for OC Formula :l

But I doubt it is something they can/will fix with a BIOS update.

Well, at least once we measured the offset we can safely work from there. I mean, the VRM is said the be of very good quality (ignoring the overvolt)

On the E6 propably yeah, the E4 on the other hand has the worst VRM in the world lol.
