X1950 pro driver issue

Thread Starter
My X1950 Pro works until I have to install the drivers. After I install them and try and boot up windows, all seems normal until where it would show the welcome screen. MY monitor goes into sleep mode. Any idea why this is happening?

There have been some reports of bad X1950PRO's. I'd just RMA it.

It almost sounds like your monitor won't support the refresh rate?, Try uninstalling the drivers in safe~ go back into normal an try something like 800x600 @ 60hz, install drivers again. If that doesn't work try different drivers~ if that doesn't work well.. then I'd assume theres something wrong with the card.

Ive had this problem too, but i was able to explore windows for about 10-15 seconds, then the monitor just went off, the computer was still on though.

Ok, I figured out my problem. It wasn't drivers, it wasn't a refresh rate issue, it was my monitor! I was in my chair thinking about what could be wrong with it and I remembered reading reviews about my monitor and them saying that it has issues with using DVI on ATI cards. So I switched to my VGA cable and all was well. I have to deal with an image quality issue but at least it works now!

Good you found that out

I almost lived in my local computer store like 5 years back when after I changed to a Geforce 2 my monitor kept going on standy. It worked in the store but not at home. It was my monitor to

As for drivers, just use the latest Catalyst from ATi. Never had problems with them.
