Everything crashes on first run - wierd bug - windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

Lately I have been having a problem when I first run my computer, where I have to leave it idle for about 20 mins (no exaggeration) before i can load teamspeak 3, or Firefox or any other application.

If I run anything on startup it just crashes with "not responding", I have to either ctrl alt del and end it, wait a few mins and start it again, or leave it on "not responding" and it sorts itself out.

When I run firefox it doesnt do anything for about 5 mins and then loads. It sits in task manager at 90KB process size for 5 mins and does nothing, and then loads properly. Then when I go to a website, any website other than Google homepage, it will crash with not responding, and the same happens, either I end it manually or I sit out the not responding (with white-d out screen).

Ive checked msconfig for start up processes - nothing. Ive been running intrusion detection to see if theres a trojan sending out data - some wierd stuff but nothing trojany. Done all the spyware checks, malware checks, updated NOD32 etc, nothing.

Really stumped. Other than buying a new HDD (probably a pci ssd) and installing a new OEM windows, which is £200 for the card/drive and then £120+ for the OS, I dont know what to do. Help!

Reset your BIOS to stock settings (undo any overclock basically) and report back. Sounds like an unstable machine.

Wierdly though I uninstalled arma2 and its mods - all 36GB of it, and installed it again and now I dont seem to have any issues. Still had 1TB free in the first place...dont understand!
