what are your thought on the Optimus G

Thread Starter

I had a samsung GS3 which was pretty nice but I ended up selling it and picking up a Lumia 920. Tho the lumia was a nice phone I could not help but to feel left out with the phone. I really missed android and the apps. The Windows store was lacking alot.

I ended up trading my Lumia 920 back to ATT yes I paid $35.00 to restock which was not a big deal and picked up a LG Optimus G. I want to know from you as experts what you think of the Optimus G and If I made a good choice. I really wanted a Note II but that $300.00 I just did not want to spend that much.

How much of a difference in CPU terms are these. Is the note 2 faster then the Optimus G or does it not matter really.

It should be fine. Has the Quad Core S4 which are really nice. Only downside I see are:

- Battery is pretty weak for an LTE phone
- only on ICS, and LG has a crappy update record here in the states.

Lg sucks imo, never had much with any of their crap. A few sweet phones are on there way so off hold out just a bit. Galaxy s4, htc phone, Motorola x phone are just a few I can think of.

I didn't read the other half of you post, I suck. The note 2 is hands down worth every penny, it's the best phone out right now. The best battery, software is awesome, everything is awesome. I don't have one gripe about it.

so is the quad core on the note II faster then the quad core on the Optimus or will it not make a difference in real world such as android games.

The Exynos SoC may perform better in benchmarking, or it may not. I don't pay attention much to benchmarking, but there is a lot that plays into performance like how they handle software. I do agree with sWaY20 that LG wouldn't be my first choice. Since they don't have a great track record here in the state with Android. Though, give the Optimus G a try.

The snapdragon s4 in the lg is a great processor, lg used great hardware in the phone and the specs are very good, it's just made by lg period. If you like it that's all that counts, I would've gone for the nexus 4 which is the same phone basically, but better and has a s4 pro which is supposedly the best processor out.

Comparing the processor in the optimus g/nexus 4 to the note 2 though is a minor difference, they're almost the exact same in performance. Later this year though the new exynos processor will dominate from what I hear.

I think i may have an issue with the phone anyways im noticing earlier when i was charging the phone my brightness turned down to 73%. I tried to tirn it back to 100% and got an error "cannot adjust brightness due to high temps." Not sure but looking online it seems to show all the optimus g's have this issue. I think lg did this on purpose like an auto adjust to keep temps at bay or the phone does overheat.

ah ok I missed that, then the only thing different is the fact that one's a nexus and runs pure android out of the box.
