Yeah, I am frustrated by this but, fortunately, it does seem PC games are taking a turn for the better.

Well they did, Detail to the game that is. Even the facehuggers from the 3rd movie where Ripley and Newt got attacked are there. Amazing but graphically the game is nothing like the demo. Real shame.

I had played it for a few hours before I took a look at the reviews... I figured it wasn't a top scoring game, but I didn't think for a second that it deserved what the big sites were rating at around 4.5 out of 10, or around or less than 50 out of 100... I figured, based on how predictably they review other games, that it would fall in the 6-6.8 out of 10 or around 60-68 out of 100.

Personally I have not encountered a lot of the bugs that people have mentioned... There are some minor ones, but nothing that drives me nuts or kills the game in any way. While the game certainly changed from the demo seen in the video, the game still does have pretty decent lighting and sound. Playing the game in complete darkness and the volume up is still pretty entertaining as the game is pretty dark most of the time. Visually the game is fine... Is it cutting edge and going to impress everyone? No, but it does what it needs. Some textures are lower resolution, but since the game is mostly dark it's really not all that noticeable. Again, the lighting and sound goes a long ways. I do not regret buying it, I just wish I spent less money on it or waited.

-Retracted statement-

That's completely insane. There needs to be a lawsuit put against this kind of thing. Lying to players about the gameplay.

Seriously, that's absolutely unfair in every way...

But like they said in the video, the demo had a cinematic feel and atmosphere to it that is somewhat absent in the final release. I've watched a few video reviews on the game and the aliens don't give you any feeling like you should fear them. Instead most videos show the marines running around COD style shredding through them easily and yes even using melee LMAO? seriously melee on an alien with the possibility of acid getting on you DERPY AI....common! Decent game?...meh

Yeah I am glad I didn't buy it..

My fiance brought it. I had a small go of it.

The game feels extremely outdated ( Sure, the sounds of the pulse rifles are kinda cool but feels like doom 3 )

When i shoot someone, there is tiny blood splatter ( I am sure that if I got shot with a pulse rifle I would be splattered against the wall, seriously, I have seen more blood splatter in F.E.A.R. )

Bodies disappear when they die ( I mean seriously, what in the hell were these guys thinking, the least they can do is make the alien melt through the floor )

The aliens run at you like retarded chimpanzees, straight into your pulse rifle bullets ( I have seen more co-ordination and strategy at a pre-school play )

There are some fun parts, but feels like a massive failure...

That is one of the most terible lies I 've seen in PC gaming industry.

Epic downgrading of the graphics.

Such a shame.

I can mostly agree with that...

I'm just trying to enjoy it... I'm not dwelling on the negatives and trying to accept it for what it is and well, try to get my money's worth. There are some things that are great ideas and if executed better, could have been a great game... It basically feels like a lower budget Alien's game but you can clearly see that it could have been a hit with more refinement and polish. I feel like if Gearbox themselves were able to dedicate the time and effort necessary, they could have made a great game... Outsourcing much of the game to other dev teams didn't seem to help anything except get a flawed product out on time. There are certain levels that feel right at home and many just feel generic. I would say "generic shooter" applies well to the game but in an Alien's atmosphere, with the exception of a few stand-out areas where there was actually far better immersion and I enjoyed quite thoroughly.

So far, I'd say the Aliens VS Predator game from a few years ago was a much more solid offering, but I want to finish the campaign of this before I make final judgement. It's really a shame cause I can see the potential if only it had been finished properly... I do like the weapon upgrades/customization element for example. Meh, we'll see... Hopefully better luck next time, Aliens.

I mean. I cant say anything too bad about it, it does look like a game id sit down and play.

When AVP and AVP 2 came out years and years ago, it was awesome for a game of its time.

I must say even they did a lot of shiny in the newest AVP game, i must say I was a little disappointed in that.

I was really hoping more from this game but it kinda seems like the same game as AVP just removing the P part tongue.gif
