My fiance brought it. I had a small go of it.
The game feels extremely outdated ( Sure, the sounds of the pulse rifles are kinda cool but feels like doom 3 )
When i shoot someone, there is tiny blood splatter ( I am sure that if I got shot with a pulse rifle I would be splattered against the wall, seriously, I have seen more blood splatter in F.E.A.R. )
Bodies disappear when they die ( I mean seriously, what in the hell were these guys thinking, the least they can do is make the alien melt through the floor )
The aliens run at you like retarded chimpanzees, straight into your pulse rifle bullets ( I have seen more co-ordination and strategy at a pre-school play )
There are some fun parts, but feels like a massive failure...
I can mostly agree with that...
I'm just trying to enjoy it... I'm not dwelling on the negatives and trying to accept it for what it is and well, try to get my money's worth. There are some things that are great ideas and if executed better, could have been a great game... It basically feels like a lower budget Alien's game but you can clearly see that it could have been a hit with more refinement and polish. I feel like if Gearbox themselves were able to dedicate the time and effort necessary, they could have made a great game... Outsourcing much of the game to other dev teams didn't seem to help anything except get a flawed product out on time. There are certain levels that feel right at home and many just feel generic. I would say "generic shooter" applies well to the game but in an Alien's atmosphere, with the exception of a few stand-out areas where there was actually far better immersion and I enjoyed quite thoroughly.
So far, I'd say the Aliens VS Predator game from a few years ago was a much more solid offering, but I want to finish the campaign of this before I make final judgement. It's really a shame cause I can see the potential if only it had been finished properly... I do like the weapon upgrades/customization element for example. Meh, we'll see... Hopefully better luck next time, Aliens.
