1) You need a better mobo to oc on.
2) The VRM will overheat at stock speed and throttle your CPU.
3) Don't believe me then stress test the cpu at stock speed.

M5A78L-M LX PLUS 3+1 No 125W Not for 125W, overclocking Yes 2-transistor, 1 driver Yes - throttling 4-pin mATX Should assume same TDP support as M5A78L-M LE/LX

Unfortunately people think they can just buy any motherboard and overclock, but they end up buying cheaper motherboards... yours is a straight no for overclocking... and it puts you in an unfortunate position of buying a new quality motherboard, a 970-ud3 costs about 90-100 and that's about half the cost of your platform already... I was in the same shoes, bought an M4A77TD, 4+1 phase no heatsink on the vrms and I had to eat it because of my lack of knowledge about overclocking and VRMs.

I wonder if Micro center would take it back since just purchased.

Here is what I did to prevent throttling and overheating on my 95w motherboard:

1. Use a hacksaw and cut out small heatsinks then stick them to your mosfets with thermal tape.
You can use old northbridge heatsinks, gpu heatsinks from geforce 4 cards, ram heatsinks, etc.
*

2. Replace your 120mm fans with 140mm and position them so that they blow wind below your cpu heatsink.
These fans are about 1cm away from the motherboard pcb and blow air across my cpu socket and mosfets
