Suggestions for a gaming laptop around $600?

Hi folks, I'm searching for a laptop for my roommate at the moment and would like some suggestions. He wants to be able to game on it but doesn't need to be cutting edge. He also wants it to be 17" if possible. Any good deals out there for something along the lines of a 17" machine with an i5 and Geforce 635m? Doesn't need to be those exact specs of course but that is the ballpark. Thanks!

MSI has a great line of laptops that have recently been in the buzz. For the features in them, I think they're a great buy!

This one is 699.99 from Newegg, which is a little out of your suggested budget, but take a look!

Looks really nice but the cutoff is going to be $650 and he doesn't even want to spend that much. Thank you though!

Not a problem, best of luck! I'll keep an eye out and see if I can find any good ones for that price point.

The first machine is the best by far. An i5/650M combo is extremely potent as far as games go. biggrin.gif

I can tell you from experience that low budget gaming laptops really don't last long(less than 2 years in my case). I'd imagine your room mate has slightly inflated expectations, I'm not trying to insinuate or anything but usually people who ask for gaming laptop suggestions are more than understanding of the fact that it'll really burn your hard earned money and as a result often are more than willing to compromise(usually financially).

At a $200 discount it's quite the bargain and easily the best laptop deal I've seen in months. However as far as refurbs go, I can't but help think what would have to be so bad about that laptop for the previous owner to return it. Especially when you consider Lenovo makes some of the best sub $900 gaming laptops around(valuewise).
