Old Comp X2 64 5200+ Graphics card choice

I've had just netbooks (AMD e450) for a while when I've been travelling. Just had the chance to get some kind of desktop again.

I picked up a computer for $100 and i'm thinking about putting a new graphics card in it. Maybe my systems a bit too old for your guys likeing but I have very modest requirements from the PC.

I'm thinking about upgrading the GPU to a GT630 1gb for $52.

prices from www.msy.com.au

My specs:
AMD X2 5200+
2.5gb ram all unmatching sticks
80gb sata HD
8400gs Galaxy nVidia
22" LG monitor.

What i want to run is just Starcraft 2 with a bit better graphics settings and league of legends.

Currently this smoothly runs starcraft 2 with all graphics and resolutions on lowest. I didn't try any higher because I figured a 8400gs is probably a pretty weak card.

The ram may be could do with an upgrade but i do want to put to much money into such an old system. And since i'm not running high end games I shouldn't need to.

I think anything up to a GTS250/9800GTX is probably cool with that proc. I dunno where the 630 stands but I'm betting it's slower than those two.

My reasoning here is that the aforementioned cards are just a bit faster than a 8800GTX, and back when 8800GTX came out, everyone was still rocking their A64's, and I don't recall a lot of complaints about CPU BN happening at the time, at least not with one card.

Also, I have an 8800GT in my work machine, which is an A64 at 2.6GHz, and it's fairly competent at gaming, esp. with easy-to-run stuff like SC2. It even runs Skyrim on Medium pretty well.

Another decent option would be to try to find like a used 5770 somewhere. That would give you the DX11, and probably won't be too bottlenecked most of the time.

What kind if power supply does it have? Something in the 8800gt range would be great for a system like that. You can find great deals on used GTX 460s now which would be bottlenecked, but would still be a good card if you upgrade the rest of your system in the future.

If you have to use that site, I would go for this.

I should of mentioned the PSU eairier maybe its a bit weak as well. Ultrix 450 watt max.... So I think thats a generic brand. It could struggle with cards that need a little power. Not sure how capable it is. How hungry are GTX460s and GTX650s

I may have a look around for second hand cards. See what I can find. Good point about the PSU. I didn't think of that.

GTX 460s need a decent amount of power. The GTX 650 however, would be a great choice. They require no auxiliary power and can be run on basically any psu. I probably uses a compatible amount of energy o the 8400gs you have in there right now. The 650 Ti is also a great choice if you can afford it. $120 after rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162127
If that's a little too much money, the 650 is under $100 AR. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127703
The Ti is considerably faster though, and will beat a GTX 460 while consuming much less power.

EDIT: Have you considered putting the 7950GT from your sig into this computer, and just spending your money upgrading your main pc? A 7950GT is still much faster than a 8400GS. It actually beats 8600GTS.

I need to update my sig rig. That computer is what i had over two years ago, so i dont have any of those parts any more. going any faster than a standard gtx560 wouldnt give any performance improvement though i imagine since the cpu will be a big bottle neck with some thing as powerful as that.
