Running windows 7... prepping for cpu upgrade

Thread Starter
Getting ready to upgrade my processor.. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to prep the OS to receive the upgrade. I don't feel like starting from a fresh install but I will do it if it's the only option.

Nothing is needed, actually.  However, I do recommend looking in Device Manager after getting the new CPU to see if Windows is recognizing it by its correct name.  If not, then there's a simple process of making it recognize it.  This isn't critical, but I like having everything perfect.  :)

You won't have to do a fresh install.

Things to check for:
Most up to date BIOS that supports your CPU Upgrade. - in your case I'd guess Vishera?
Most up to date Chipset Drivers - These will recognize and configure the system for your new CPU.
