Best Intel cpu for around $200 dollars- Strictly for gaming - Page 4

3570k.

I'd personally avoid ASUS, overpriced for their VRM setups relative to others.

ASrock is known to put D-PAK mosfets in their low to mid boards.

Gigabyte Z77X-D3H
Biostar TZ77A or other if you can find it xe4 or something

Single GPU setup right? Then this is your friend.

Thats why i want a machine dedicated strictly to this game.... Intel and Nvidia is perferd by fsx

FSX is a very clockspeed hungry application. It does use less cores but loves higher clocks. I would recommend you going with the Gigabyte-Z77x UD5h or if you want to stay with Asus as you have in the past go for the v-pro or even the deluxe if you can afford it and take your pick on the 3570k vs. 2500k. There are advantages to both, the 3570k has the advantage of a pretty easy de-lidding mod that can almost guarantee you a vcore limited (as opposed to temperature limited) chip which is an advantage for overclocking, the 2500k is going to overclock well no matter what but is an older generation and will perform a bit slower clock per clock. I personally run my 3570k at 4.9ghz with great temps and can switch over to 5 in bios whenever I feel I need that extra 2% and I am on an air cooler with very comfprtable safe temps. I feel like the 3570k is what I would want if I were playing flight simulator as the cpu power can definitely hold you back some. It is your choice: the 3570k is faster in rendering than a 2500k at the same clock but you may have to mod it to be able to clock it as high.

You were able to get 5ghz out of your 3570k? Holly cow thats great! If you dont mind me asking what kind of cooler are you running? You said its on air correct? I maneged to get my Fx 6100 to 4.177 ghz on auto tune and iam getting around 38-45 fps with everything maxed out on fsx...Thats including alot of add-ons I put on there. I can imagine how smooth the game would run if i was at 5ghz like yours but I dont see it happening with this chip (at least not in my hands lol) Its supposed to run better with an Intel cpu and nvidia gpu according to everyone.... (yet to find out) The 3570k sounds like a winner to me!

Just 1 more question I appologize.... As far as Intels onboard graphics are consirned are you supposed to disable them when using a discrete gpu or do you let them work together? Can they work together btw? So the 3570k uses intel hd 4000 graphics if iam not mistaken? Thank you

You're supposed to disable the on-board graphics (unless your motherboard has Lucid Virtu MVP and you want to utilize the on-board Quick Sync technology for encoding videos). The i5-3570K does indeed feature HD 4000 integrated graphics.

So i will look for a motherboard with that virtual lucid thing..... So is it worth it do you get better gaming performance or no? Off the top of your head do you know which manufactrues make those motherboards? Thanks much:thumb:

i5-3570k is the clear choice given your budget. Plus, you also get a combo deal at Micro Center.

Almost all z77 have virtu. It works well for me. It sends all the easy stuff to your inboard graphics and the harder stuff goes to the gpu. It does increase the framerate some on a lot of games.

I use a d14 and I have a lot of thermal room left over. I only see about 55 degrees gaming. I would imagine a smaller cooler would do fine too.
