dual booting windows 7 and 8 help

hi i have been trying to dual boot windows 7 and windows 8 and i know how to do it properly but for some reason when i try to shrink volumn it says i only can use 5gb and i have about 70gb of free space on my laptop. do you have any idea how i can fix this??

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Windows reserves space for what it needs (pagefile, hiberfile, and who knows what else).
Those reserved spaces can and likely are spread all over your HDD.

You can look at a Defragger program and see what's where and what you can reduce or get rid of. That's a whole other subject though.

Windows is just protecting you from using space it needs. A 70gig partition is pretty small in the first place too.
