[Build Thread] The Storm Trooper

Thread Starter
Well I'm a mechanical engineer, so I do a lot of 3D modeling at work. I really wanted to start a business on the side designing random parts here and there, so I decided to build a workstation for home. *cough* *cough* also playing some games. lol

I want to give a giant shout-out to "B NEGATIVE" for the inspiration and information that he provided me when I first started doing research for the build. I'm really just coping what he's already done, but putting a "storm trooper" style color scheme together. His "Mil-Spec" thread just blew me away. thumb.gif

Here she is at the moment. I'm stilling waiting for my chrome plated copper tubing to get her from the UK. I'm located in California, and the company that sells the tubing doesn't ship to the US, so I had a friend in London order it to his house and then ship to me. Hopefully, it gets here soon. I'm anxious to put her together.

PARTS:
  • Corsair Vengeance C70 Arctic White Case
  • Intel Core i7-3770k
  • Asus Sabertooth Z77
  • EVGA GTX 670 Superclocked+ w/ backplate 4GB
  • Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD + adapter plate
  • SeaSonic X650 Gold PSU
  • 16GB G.Skill Trident X DDR3 2400
  • Asus BD/DVD/CD Drive
  • XSPC Chrome Raystorm AX360 CPU Water Cooling Kit w/ Twin D5 pumps
  • Corsair CMXAF2 Memory Cooler
  • 4 x Corsair SP120
  • 4 x Corsair AF 120
  • Chrome plated copper tubing
  • 6 x 10mm G1/4 black nickel plated push-lock fittings
  • 2 x AOC IPS i2367Fh 23" LCD Monitors
  • Logitech MX5500 Mouse and Keyboard (gift from girlfriend
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit (My pops had an extra copy laying around)
  • TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter
  • BitFenix Recon Fan Controller

COST: ~$3000

Cable management on this case is amazing!

Nice clean look when done!

MORE TO COME!!!!!! When the chrome piping gets here I'll show the process of bending and getting the H20 kit installed!

I would really like to water cool the GPU too, but we'll see. I did buy enough piping to do 3-4 builds. haha

I to was a little disappointed about the screens. I purchased them the 1st day they came out, and well I got to figure it out for myself that they aren't as advertised. Other then the border thing they are amazing. Great color and clarity!

I will probably use a heat gun to heat the piping up first. It'll make life a lot easier.

Forgot to post this one. I high temp ceramic painted the ram cooler.

I've got the same XSPC Kit. It runs my GPU and CPU perfectly without noticeable noise. Nice. I don't have pictures of the final build yet, as I'm debating between two known working ways to mount the 360 rad in my Lian Li A05FNB. Anyhow, I can't wait to see how your build turns out, especially the chrome. Might have to "borrow" your idea there biggrin.gif

I got my tube ready chromed and bent it,I was worried at first,I was expecting the chrome to crack and flake but it held up just fine,I wouldnt go much beyond 90 tho.....
If he has a set of good quality benders then scratching isnt an issue.
