$3000 dream machine - Page 23

You just gonna end up wasting a lot of money.
You need to decide on exactly what you want, Also the 8970 and GTX780 might be on par with or faster than the Titan tongue.gif
So you'll be sitting with cards that cost you an absolute fortune (Yes $1000 for a GPU is a fortune) that will be worth half that in less than a year.

I have personally fallen into this trap twice. It happened with my latest rig as well. I don't need 2x GTX670 4GB cards but I wanted them and now that I have them I regret dropping all the cash on them and not just sticking to a single card.

Don't buy with your heart, buy with your brain.

If you feel like spending $1000, then buy a GTX690 or 7990.

well the Titan has the most cuda cores in one GPU. and I need that for Adobe CS6, I can't go for the GTX690 because Adobe doesn't support dual GPU graphic cards.

Build a $2.5k master node/gamer spend 500$ on networking equipment. Then spend the last 3k to build a Beowolf wolf like render farm. Hell for 3k you can get over a teraflop I have seen 5k farms that get over a petaflop. And that's no overclocking or anything. And with the rendoring there is already software for it so you don't have to develop any software on your own. The Titanic movie was rendered on a Beowolf like cluster computer built from workstations.

Ok so I was trying to find the petaflop article and saw I missed a 0 as in 50k but in my searching I have concluded that you would need nowhere near that computing power for rendering so you could easily build the beowolf like cluster from say 12 workstations all using onboard video then view rendered bit on the master node/gamer.

Please update the title to 3k dream machine since you're not going 6k anymore ... very confusing for people who haven't read the previous posts tongue.gif I'd stick with the Titan and eventually get 2 of them for SLI smile.gif It's a dream machine, and I don't dream of 680's I dream of Titans tongue.gif

Are you even being serious? This thread has been up a while even if you upgrade later you still won't need 1000w. Please just make up up your mind.

I was expecting this build to be done weeks ago as he was talking about how important it is to doing his job at work with such demanding timelines. I guess not hmmsmiley02.gif

I think a Moderator should look into this and close the thread there are plenty of options and tons of advice this is either a troll or someone who likes to waste time.
