Would OP make his mind and inform us correctly on what he needs exactly?

This.

All we know right now is that he wants to render, and play a few games at their highest setting.

After reading this thread, I feel like he is trolling. In this economy, I wouldn't even go over 3k on a beast computer!thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif No offense OP.

But if someone did buy a $6000 computer I'd laugh so hard at them, because I could have built a PC that would perform basically the same for around $2.5k MAX, and take a nice vacation somewhere, or buy a cheap car as well.

Kinda where I was going with this one. I don't think OP realizes how much money he is wasting in general.

To be fair, he if REALLY wanted a render farm a he should throw down on a 10 core / 20 thread Xeon and forget about the GPUs period.

This.

@thecheeseling. If you really want a monster render/3d/high-res editing rig that can also double as a gaming machine you should be looking at dual 2011 Xeons; 2*E5-2687w+ board such as the ASUS Z9PE-D16/2L comes to about $4300, or start with one cpu and add the second later.

A whole lot of gpus won't be doing anything if your workloads don't continuously load them, one or two 680s/580s would do you well.
One or two ssds for OS and programs and a 8 1tb 7200rpm drives in raid5 would serve up 4k editing well, ssds are nice but you'd wear them out very quickly

What exactly are you doing with this rig? Is this just as a hobby or are you going to make money off this rig?
Is media creation something you do or something you want to get into? If so you really should just look at going with a 3930k and 2 680s.

Ok... I read through all of your posts and brought the price WAY down... I'll upgrade along the way and probably just save the rest of the money.

this is the new build... If I like it I might just make two of them or something. I'm going to wait for the titan to come out and the new swiftech 110

Get another SSD such as the Crucial M4 or the Samsung 840 series. The plextor has an old controller and the price is roughly the same.

I'm sorry sir, but that Rosewill psu is manufactured by the same people that make Seasonic psu's. Superflower.
However, I don't see a reason to not get the gold version, since this guy had such a huge budget before.

Also, OP. I hope you overclock that 3930k. For air cooling get a Phanteks PH-TC14PE, they come in assorted colors, outperform the Noctua NH-D14 and don't look horrible.
For a water cooler, Thermaltake CLW0217 Water 2.0. With a thicker rad, which outperforms the Corsair H100i. Corsair also has horrific software.
Both should fit in that C70.

And 2 of these to replace on the water cooler if you want better fans, http://goo.gl/6tWVC
