As far as your problem goes, check the wow site / forums if you havent already --> http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=mww000p&v=28

basicly it can be any number of things, but they suggest:

bad install (not likely if you can play 10 mins, is it area specific? maybe those files are corrupt)

overheating (possible if you can only play 10 mins, u got good on your CPU but what about graphics card?)

graphics card, sound card, directx, motherboard drivers not up to date (can have an impact)

defrag, system file checker (not likely but do it anyway)

do all them and still cant get it working, try the support forums but thats all i can suggest

Sounds to me like overheating problems. Check your temps and repost please.
Now that that is over with... run wow in windowed mode and have speedfan sit in your task bar, and watch your temps.

After you do that, do the same thing, but use ati tool or some other gpu temp monitoring software.

Report back w/ temps.

My temps were the usual, around the mid 50's full load, but putting my CPU back to defaults solved it. It's pretty weird, though, because it's usually stable a lot higher than I had it at.

Was that your cpu temps or gpu? If that was your cpu temps you found your problem.

BTW, it's good to see your taking the time to make your own opinion on the game.

You're running the RC1 or 2?

I've noticed after 5 installs of RC1 that sometimes you get a problem that will not go away and can't be solved, all you can do is reinstall the OS. Right now I'm having my sound drop every 10 mins and it wont restart until I reboot.

Your Temps are probably right where they should be and the 7900GT is good to go up to 100Cº (though I wouldn't do it often) you might try seeing if ASUS has any Vista drivers for your mobo yet. Do the same for your sound drivers and I know nvidia has some good Vista drivers for your card too. While the Microsoft drivers will work they are sometimes buggy and not as good as the Manufacturer's drivers.
