Oh, I should have made it clear! My iphone 4s was taken from me, I do not have mobile insurance.

It was stolen by someone last week and I had no insurance on it, i did report it and I now have no phone. That's another reason why Ive considered not getting the latest phone.

Is the nexus 4 available in australia?

Yep!. But it's a month long wait to get one at the moment. They just got back in stock.

To everyone who was involved in helping me with this thread, I say thanks! For everyone who provided great advice I say thanks. You know what? F*** it, I'm moving away from IOS, I do enjoy the operating system however, I'm tired of being restricted in a number of ways regarding the phone choice

Although a complete 360 turnaround to not only my last few posts, but my original Idea, I decided to get either a note or a note two, I've just gotta check availability in Australia. Yes, I know its a huge beastly mother!

I thought I'd post my PM response here in case it can help anyone else.

Texting is great with the use of the standard Samsung "keyboard." It is Swype style (set to one handed operation) which is well worth it to learn if you have not. If you are not willing to use a Swype style keyboard then A.I. keyboard is a must. Emails are awesome to send on a big screen. Calling seems good. I feel like a woman when I am talking on a tiny phone.

The camera is awesome. You must watch the LucidMike YouTube videos about the camera and its functions. I like how I can just say shoot or cheese or capture to make it take a pic rather than reaching for an on screen button.

With the awesome CPU it is awesome at games (as far as phones go lol)

I boycotted iTunes years ago so I'm not sure about that, Apple my have their hooks in you.

The battery and 1080p flash video is what does it for me.

The best source of info is Lucidmike 's videos on youtube, he has over 80 about the Note2 now I think.

I hope I could help!

I'd get a Nexus 4 if it is possible since stock is currently low. If not, get the GS3.

I've not read the whole thread, but by any chance did you setup iCloud on your 4S? Did you try using Find my iPhone?

Great choice. I feel like the Note is such a multi faceted device. It is a great media consumption device and it does fairly well at a production device as well. If you had a placeholder phone for the time being Id say wait until the Note 3 is released and you will be able to get the note 2 on the cheap.

I really like my GS3. I can't really speak for the stock ROM, but if you're interested in rooting, you can basically make the experience anything you want.
The screen size is great sometimes, but slightly troublesome at others (laying in bed trying to use it with one hand.)
The backcover is a cheap plastic, but you really can't feel the difference, it's solid.

I've dropped it multiple times w/o a cover and the worst I've gotten is a slightly dented corner.
