Asus TF700 (eepad, top of the range) v iPad 64gb retina display v Samsung galaxy note 10.1"

Price doesn't matter really, nothing over 900.

I'm aus so I'm going to JBHIFI, hopefully they can do me a deal, but best quality, price and perfect for schooling; Viewing pdf's (texts books), word processing, note taking, ease of use, quality hardware, bang for buck, and everything in between.

Please help I'm going to my closest shopping centre to purchase one so please help me as soon as possible!

Thanks,
~NeonRave

Don't get the iPad it is a toy and a waste of money especially at that price. Good luck with the headaches workarounds to get it to do anything easy for school. I'd say the Asus but if you're willing to spend 900 maybe the surface pro?

Yeah didn't think so.

And yeah idk, I have a 2,500 dollar computer at home, and have a laptop, so I wanna really stay away from windows 8 because otherwise I might end up turning it into a thing that I would use more that it is supposed to, filling it up and such... Do you get what I'm saying?

I did school work on an ipad and a android tablet...it's much easier to get actual work done on an Android tablet.

Your choices are blue tooth keyboard or Asus Transformer. I had an original Transformer and didn't really love it, the new ones are supposedly much better. I am not sure how convenient a blue tooth keyboard is. I have a Nexus 10 and is in my opinion is the best tablet on the market but bluetooth keyboard is really the only option if you go with that.

I still never found Android to be the most effective way to get work done. The multitasking while there just isn't adequate in my opinion unless all you do is take notes without needing to reference pdfs, websites or databases at the same time. Going back and forth is a drag. I also found little things to be difficult like dragging to select a portion of text to copy cut delete whatever.

I ended up getting a chromebook for work. It's cheaper than a tablet has just as good battery life and is slightly more capable than Android with infinitely better multitasking ability.

Loving the do firstly...

Next, thanks the input much appreciated, I will definately look at the speed and
Such on the tablets when I look today.
What's a chrome book?

Yeah well notes and quick word processing is probably most of the thing that I'm going to do, then light entertainment like YouTube and web browsing smile.gif

But I will definately have a look at the mentioned problems and see which one has better overall performance, and multi tasking.

The only reason I would say android is because you can get word and stuff and just has better performance than the iPad, and I thought of the Asus because of the keyboard the comes with it, when I go in hopefully they have the new samsung, iPad, and anything else that is available so I can compare them to each other.

Its basically a cheap netbook that runs a special version of Linux called chrome OS which is more or less the chrome browser and not much else. You access everything through the browser, some things can be made to work offline like docs and gmail. The good thing is that it's relatively quick with very minimal hardware (boots in about 3 seconds) which means good battery life. Downside is it is a netbook style so it won't be as portable or light as a tablet and most apps require a wifi connection. It does have a much better/larger keyboard than the transformer tablets.

Oh ok fair enough I just have best heard of it.
Thanks sounds interesting,
I'm not sure it is available Australia.

But I think a tablet would be more useful.

Plus the thing is, with being year 12 at my school is that we can have Internet access unlike anyone else, so WiFi and Ethernet smile.gif but they just have to allow it to access the net on their 'special mac' and for Ethernet you just have to put in a proxy (which I'm not sure how to do that :/)
