Will buy E6300 in the morning (less than 12hrs)

Thread Starter
Currently the time is 12:29 a.m. which i should be sleeping XD but i don't feel sleepy. So tomorrow is the DAY! and i will see how far i can overclock the E6300 with my current specs.

I'm having a hard time of searching for a review of P5b plain or vanilla version with a conroe cpu for references and it also seems that no one is tempted to review this board or so it seem... I've searched the web many times and i always ended up with P5B DLX or Deluxe review...

My guess is that i can only reach around 2.4GHz - 2.8GHz at max (maybe 3GHz if im lucky...). Anyone else care to estimate how far i can go with this limited motherboard... I'm both excited and disappointed at the same time since i know my motherboard is the biggest problem, next is my value ram...

Don't get the P5B vanilla.

There is a review here.

Max Vdimm for memory is 2.1V, which is nowhere near the amount of voltage needed to get them max performance out of your memory.

Those fixes will help, to be sure, but in order to reach 500 fsb or above you'll need more than 2.1 vdimm and unfortunately the vanilla P5B does not support it, thus the reason for the Deluxe recommendation.

Why don't you sell your current chip and upgrade?

To the others, a higher multi will help in case your ram craps out early.
