The ducky shine 2 with brown switches is what I want, but it's $140 cost is a rather big roadblock. I got my gen 1 G15 back in 2006/2007 if memory serves me correctly and I've had zero problems with it beyond some paint rubbing off the lower silver base.

Yeah the refresh G15 had very mushy tactile resopnse. Luckily the g110 and g115 have a feel that is quite similar to the old G10 & G15.

And by response, I will disagree with the contention that you will notice that large of a difference between the G15 (OG) vs a silenced mechanical (thinking a G710+) in terms of sounds (maybe I should just make a youtube video depicting the difference between the two, but my mic stinks). Especially if you're looking for another undying keyboard.

However, since you've emphasized it repeatedly that you want another workhorse, I'd suggest (as others have) the MS Sidewinder X4. Feels pretty good to type on, serves pretty well even for 120+ apm (i'm sorry, I am not a 150+ apm player, my best RTS is Company of Heroes , a relatively low apm RTS xD). On the other hand, I seriously do not suggest anything past the OG Logitech G11/G15, they felt terrible, while my OG G15 is on its 4th owner (I was its original owner). Otherwise, I can't honestly think of a keyboard I've used that's survived hard pressing gaming without feeling utterly mushy (Saitek Eclipse, Steelseries Merc) or just failing altogether after a year or so (Logitech Illuminated, MS Ergonomic KB).

I can certainly attest to that. I have the OG G11 and the 710+. I was expecting a much louder keyboard in the 710+ (I have heard the sound of a 710+ on a youtube vid) but was pleasantly surprised. It's still a bit louder than my G11 but the typing experience on the 710+ is so much better. Also have the 2nd gen G15, and while that was a very quiet keyboard, I found it too mushy.
