Needs Better Psu? Gigabyte GTX 590

already read too many posts here about the power supplies.. smile.gif

this is my problem..

i have a system with 2 550w psu.i've given the one 550 to the system and i bought a gigabyte gtx 590 so i give it the other 550..when the gpu it is at full load the system turn's off or does not respond after some 10 minutes..

must note that this psu has not 8pin connectors (of course). i have cut the 8pin cpu power connector and i mod it to 2 8pins adapters for the gpu..but the problem still exist if connect the 8pin adapters to molex.

So it is not enough the 550w psu for the 590? or must do a different connection?

Yea that 550watt PSU doesn't sound good at all, I'd get a real PSU that can handle your entire system. I've seen some good deals on Seasonics lately, you should be able to get an excellent quality, appropriate wattage PSU for ~$100 USD.

It's a low quality psu that either simply can't produce 550watts, or is rated at 550watts and a ridiculously low temperature. In any case, you'll want to replace it.

What other components are in your system?
Should add your rig to you sig by filling out the rigbuilder

a 650w PSU can power a whole overclocked z77 system with a gtx 690, so a 550w PSU should be able to handle a 590 easily.

what is your PSU?

the other components no matter because this psu its only for the gpu..as i say before its 500 not 550......wrong remember wink.gif starting to believe some other guys who say that 590 needs even and 600watt......

today maybe will buy a semi'cheap 700watt psu.....will be ok with that?
