[HardwareCanucks]AMD Clarifies 2013 Graphics Strategy: New Cards, Same Architecture, Some Surprises - Page 18

As I stated in another post, why would they? Console's are SEVERELY limiting developers (and making them lazy) so why come out with something new yet? Hardware is sooooooo far out in front of software/games that it makes little sense to keep on the track they are on. thumb.gif (BTW, both fronts, hw and sw, sadden me)

We will get another revolution in a year or so that will push our hardware to the limits. Just look at some of the new/revamped engines coming out this year...

I just don't get the logic of some of you. Not having new tech is a bad thing. You should be getting a 8970 with 15-20% performance boost over the 7970 for the same price as what your currently paying for a 7970. But your not. Your stuck with the same thing for 2 years. Absolutely nothing positive about this news. Sorry
there is some positive. the 7000 series cards will continue to get cheaper and remain relevent in the absence of 8000 series cards. and dont forget we will get new 8700 and 8800 series cards in 2013 if that's what you want. most poeple still buy entry to mid range cards so most people will still be happy

what do you currently have ?

someone should clarify this

Brand new architecture? does that mean they are dropping GCN(makes no sense given how AMD keep saying it have so much room to grow in each driver release)? or will it be GCN2?
this is confusing. i dont think they will drop the GCN architecture and make a new architecture. AMD said GCN is the future of graphics technology so i dont see them introducing a brand new architecture so soon. it will be an improved GCN most likely as you said GCN 2.

Hopefully they will at least drop the price on the 7970 so I can at least double up and not feel i getting totally screwed for another year. On the financial side of things, maybe this will push them into being profitable for the first quarter in a while.

Denials. Denials. Denials.

GK110 does not exist. GK104 is NVIDIA's new high end chip, didn't you get the memo?

Except Q3 will see nvidia launch gtx 700 series then amd will be dealing with 600 series at huge price decrease
