Can't see this being a good thing for AMD.

Finally they are on top and in a position to take over the GPU market (with the exception of Titan but that doesn't count anyways) and they don't release a refresh of the HD 7970 GHZ. Very disappointing. No reference HD 7990 and no HD 8970.

I honestly don't see many people after Titan going and buying AMD cards. All the lemmings will flock to buy Nvidia cards because the Titan and GTX 690s are the best performing cards on the market.

I can see it now, even though you can't compare the Titan to the current HD 7970 GHZ, every moron benchmark site will and it'll ruin AMDs reputation.

How is this any different? NVIDIA's fastest single GPU vs. AMD's fastest. At least in this comparison, they're both on 28nm.

Only reason 7970 was faster than 680 was because it was battling NVIDIA's mid range chip. Now that it's battling NVIDIA's true high end, it's just not fair!

Let's put it this way, if AMD was providing better competition NVIDIA couldn't price the Titan for $900. They also wouldn't have gotten away with a GK104 based 680.

Last gen GF110 went for $500 & $350 respectively, with a chip physically the same size as GK110. GF104 was in the $250 range.

This gen, NVIDIA made some tremendous progress and surpassed even their own expectations, and are enjoying much higher profit margins as a result.

I hate the fact that GK110 is being sold so high, but when we see how much faster Titan is over a 7970........ Need I say more?

This may not be what you want to hear, but it's the reality.

Tom's Hardware was very close to not including either dual GPUs as their recommended buy because of the supply issue, until both of them completely dried up.

I'm not interested in any thing less than 3 -4 GPUs when it comes to my setup and i will not pay more than £2000 for them.

That makes absolutely no sense. The fewer the better as long as they offer the performance.

For example two titans should handily beat 7970 quadfire due to quad scaling issues.

I think this would be reality if we were talking about a simple high end card, not one that's going to be sold in limited supply. If everything you said above was a reality, then Titan would be much more widely available than it's expected to be.

It does not matter what you think of 3 way GPUs reducing microstutter or not and issues, when it comes to my money my experience of 2, 3 and 4 GPus is all that matters and i have been very happy with my 3 and 4 GPU experience..

Yes and I've had better experiences with NV cards which is why I buy them for my 24/7 machines but that doesn't mean that I'll say they're faster than AMD ones because the 580 was faster than a 6970.

Everyone is free to spend their money as they wish but basing your beliefs on old benchmarks about cards that aren't even sold anymore is a bit silly.
