http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320091

Free Shipping + 500GB WD Passport for $169.99

Best price i currently found was from Amazon for $150

Anyone know if this is a good deal? Looking for a wireless router but I only need it in 3 months.. Should I bite the bullet now? Its one of the best units on the current market.

Advice appreciated.

Im just wondering if in the next 3 months the price would drop significantly that would warrant a wait..

I dont know how the router pricing goes... Things like RAM and SSD drop in price like crazy.. Where processors and hard drives tend to stay constant.

Was also wondering about this deal. My current router seems to be on the kaput, and the 500gb external would be nice to attach to the router as networked storage.

I was thinking the same thing, but the last time i did that my external died after only a few months.. I dont know if there meant to run 24/7.. (just thought I would mention that). Maybe it was just a bad unit..

Anyone that knows want to chime in and help a few of us out?

I have a 500Gb HDD attached to my RT-N66U which sees regular use (but not 24/7) and haven't encountered any issues. It also has a neat feature that allows you to access the HDD via the internet.

Since external HDD's are just regular HDD with USB connection, I don't see why they would fail. Just make sure you get a quality drive.

external HDD's are regular internal sata drives, with a case on them and USB adaptor.

Great router, Ive had a 500gb hooked up for months, always 5 or 6 wireless devices hooked up to it, pulling movies from it is quick. Best router ive ever owned!
