Sapphire Vapor-X 7970 GHz edition 2x8 pin is the voltage locked or what ?

Hi all im after a bit of info on this card;

On mine stock is 1.256 i can see and adjust it in trixx but when i look at gpuz the adjustment hasn't worked (also with +20 board power li). I haven't had the card for very long and im back working offshore again so i cant play with it but i did try afterburner with that it wouldn't even show the voltage (with the options ticked).

What i want to know does anyone else have this double 8 pin card and is teh voltage locked ??

I also want to try the power control+ 20% in ccc and see if that made any differance. If any one has any info that would be great.thumb.gif

Thanks

Gpuz reads real voltage so if there's no change, then voltage didn't change.

There is no such thing as +20 vddc. There is no voltage control in Catalyst either.

Sorry i dont have the programs to look at in front of me i mean board power li +20

Ok sorry i havent got the programs in front of me to check i meant to say board power li+20.

I know there is no voltage control in CCC i was referring to the power control settings under the overdrive tab in CCC setting that to + 20 to see if anything changes...

It's annoying that they keep changing the name, it's Powertune/Powercontrol/Board Power, whatever... it deals with raising the TDP limit and doesn't have anything to do with voltage.

Ok so having the Powertune/Powercontrol/Board Power, whatever AT + 20 is only going to allow me to push a little more out of my overclock right ? Is there a way of checking if this is working when i use it in trixx ?

You would need a killawatt to measure your power draw. The other way is when you get close to the TDP limit, your card will either throttle or if it trips OCP it will just bsod and require a hard reboot.
